Locking up a player in a dark room as punishment for a concussion...jeez.

My mother filled me in a little more. By cold dark room, it was meant so that the kid could be monitored by the team doctor to make sure he was OK. He also never gave proof of ever having a concussion.

Another little interesting tidbit is that the kid wanted to transfer to SMU and have the Tech coach sign a form saying the kid had never played his first year so that he could have four more years at SMU. The Tech coach didn't agree to that.

Stuff I've heard is that the kid is a pussy prima-dona. Showing up to practice in his cool-guy sunglasses, riding his dad's coat-tails...

Kicking a kid like that's ass is a coaches job, proverbially speaking...and he shouldnt have been fired for it. He got fired because the administration was looking for a reason and Craig James used his ESPN muscle to call attention to it.

Craig James kills yet another football program... I think it's laughable that when he was asked on Sportcenter if he'd ever seen anything like this before in football and he said absolutely not. I've seen and heard about FAR WORSE things being done by a coach to players at all levels.

No matter what happens this is going to hurt the Tech football program for a while. The fan base as a whole is up in arms and I'm sure they're going to lose season ticket holders. Top that off with the potential for recruits shying away from the drama... and Tech will struggle for several years to come.

There are a number of reports now saying that James wanted to transfer to SMU and brought a petition to Leach to sign from the NCAA that basically stated he didn't play his freshman year. Leach refused to sign it and so this was the 'response'. He wanted that extra year of eligibility and when Leach didn't sign it he and daddy cooked up this scheme.

According to ESPN, Leach was fired more for the fact he didn't want to sit down with the AD (or the department) and talk about it/work something out (supposedly)
