Microwave caught on fire...
Well not really. I put a plait with a variant of hot pockets into it. Two minutes later its giving out smoke and all the fire alarms go off. After i open it the plate literary exploded and the hot pocket is a fried husk.
Anyone know what happened here? Should i be lawyering up and getting ready to sue?

You burned out the magnetron, probably due to a faulty power supply or voltage regulator. When you give them too much voltage, magnetrons produce waaaaay too much (internal) heat and (external) microwave radiation, and the feedback will destroy them in some very spectacular fashions. The food exploded because the excess microwaves caused the water molecules to flash over into steam, causing sudden and rapid expanse; when there aren't readily-available water molecules to excite any more, the other food molecules eventually burn and scorch from the internal friction caused by their own excitation.
And no, not a lawyer situation, just a simple (electro-)mechanical failure, like an engine throwing a pushrod.

NOT THE HOTPOCKETS!? NOOOOOOOOO! WHY, THEY WERE SO YOUNG?!?!?!??!?!?!?! I DEMAND WAR AGAINST THE TRECHEROUS MICROWAVES, REPARATIONS WILL BE PAID FOR THE TURMOIL THE MICROWAVE PUTS THE HOTPOCKET THROUGH!!!!
On a more serious note, probably would have been smarter to wait a few minutes before opening the microwave.

Re: Microwave caught on fire...
I remember the night i set my microwave on fire. It was summer and i decided i wanted an easy mac cup. I dont understand why i thought itd be ok to put it in the microwave without water in it, but anyway i put it in and went and sat and watched TV, Next thing i kno my parents come running downstairs asking me whats burning i said "nothing" they go bullshit, I look over at them and notice my kitchens covered in smoke and my microwave was flaming. hahaha it sucked, Nothing burnt except the microwave thank god and we had a horrible smell in the house for a while after that and ih ad to buy my parents anew microwave, it was funny tho.
More on topic to what happened to you, Its sad to see wasted hotpockets.

Well I am glad to hear that you weren't injured in the initial blast. Here's to hoping the external radiation didn't hurt you as well.
Props to Draco for the uber-overview on what went wrong.
Now, to put this into perspective, go to youtube and search for "ostrich egg in microwave".
You'll feel better in no time.
