My dad woke me up at like 1115 to help him shovel out/snow blow out the driveway so he could go run some errands, but of course, they were all closed. Since we started 2 and a half hours ago, another inch or two has dropped on top of our 5 already and its picking up. I am guessing those winds are headed my way. Oh what fun!

Oh the weather out side is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
and since we got no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Its been nice and cool down south. The avg for the rest of the week will be 45 degrees with clear skies :6

and now, the first 2 periods in Rutgers is canceled, which sucks because I dont start till the 3rd. Do I hear another snow day? One that will actually affect me?

OK, scratch that. Another 6 inches fell since my dad and I went out at 1130. We have WELL over a foot of snow on the ground with no signs of stopping. Its so bad that areas we cleared off and was down to blacktop, had a thick dusting 15-20 mins later. :5 :3

Clearing out my truck is going to SUUUUCCCKKKKKK...........

Ugh, 3rd shift called off, so I am here at work until 0001, after working remotely since 0900.

Driving in, I have to say it was pretty damn ugly.

Winds were kicking up and visibility was cut down to about 100 feet. Now 100 feet when walking is cool, but going 60, it makes it interesting. Fortunately all the FPS gaming helps with the reflexes. Although crashing a car is a bit like respawning in PR after dropping a nade in the middle of your squad. It takes for f'ing ever to get back up and running.

Just found out that one of the neighboring stations from where I work caught fire after a roof collapse broke a gas line. Looks like a big loss, at least 1 heavy rescue squad, 2 ambulances, and a brush truck. It sounds like they got 2 engines and the ladder truck out of their station. This is after one of the stations where I live caught fire 2 days ago (destroying a brand new $150,000 ambulance, a brand new $600,000 fire engine, and an older ambulance and fire engine, plus a national guard humvee being used to help get crews around). Total of 5 stations with collapsed roof / fire in the Md / Delaware / Virginia area, and probably more to come. This area isn't made for 50+ inches of snow. They measured in the parking lot at my station, 29" from the first storm, 21" from yesterday, and more coming this weekend and early next week.

Everybody got out. It started in the banquet hall. Apparently the initial reports were wrong, and all of the fire apparatus was removed before the fire spread to that part of the station. 6 hours later, the fire is out, and the clean up begins.
