Thanks... I don't have children so that dog was the closest thing to a kid to me. I have never had to make that decision before and I am hesitant to get another pet because I don't ever want to do it again.

I agree. Sable came from the Humane Society when I got her as a puppy. They had an entire litter. My only regret is that I didn't get 2 at the time. Our local shelter has combined the pound and human society into one entity and it is a no kill shelter now.

Not a huge dog fan... but if I were to get a dog, I'd get a Swissy (Greater Swiss Mountain Dog)

Boa's and other constrictors are cool (however there are several places in the states, namely, Florida to name one) that they are becoming a real problem due to idiots releasing them into the wild after deciding that they don't want them anymore. They are decimating the local bird and reptile populations (among others) as they have no natural predators here in the states.
