The top three pets....
You'd like to have. Me and my fiance are looking at getting a dog and we have come up with three potential candidates. And i thought why not see what the other people at TTP might want to have, or already have. So name your top 3 pets....dogs, cats, hamsters, ferrets, camels....doesn't matter what. Might even change our minds in our search.
These are the three dogs we've come up with:
#1: Rhodesian Ridgeback
They are originally from South Africa and were bred by farmers and tribes to hunt large predators. They are also known as the "African Lion Hunter". From what i have read they are extremely protective and incredibly smart animals. You have to either buy them with a mandate to have them fixed or get a license to breed them. They are regarded as great family pets.
#2: German Shepherd
I actually used to have one of these big guys. His name was Simba, and he was without a doubt, the best dog i ever had. They are ferociously protective of their owners, but they will lick newborn babies. However, my fiance isn't too fond of the hair aspect of it, but i would love to have another one.
#3: English Bulldog
Little on the smaller side compared to the above two and I again used to have one of these a long time ago. My dad named him Camaro. My mom told me that Camaro stayed in my room from the day they brought me home until the day that he died. He lived until i was 7 and i have very fond memories of him.

Re: The top three pets....
My family just got another pup, it is the 3rd we've had.
First one we had was Molly, a German Shepard mutt, cant remember what else, but she was the best dog I've ever seen, my dad had her trained very well, I think she died from a problem with her bones?
second one was Bear, a huge(black coat, very well named) mutt with some chow in it, he was very aggressive when he was chained, pretty ok dog though when he was free. He had a chain in the ground + a shock collar, you'd hear a yelp and you knew he was over the fence and gone...we had him put down cause he was so mean.
and now we have Diesel, 5 months old I think, another German Shepard mix...they didn't know what else he had, but probably hound/lab/husky.

No....not at all. I love the hell out of my Lab,but she sheds like a mofo....I just couldn't handle anything that was worse. One thing that I have found,though....leather interior of cars, and leather furniture rules...a quick wipe with a damp paper towel, and all is good. My old Jeep had cloth, and it was ridiculous.....vacuuming would only make the hair stand up....not get rid of it.
If I don't end up with another Lab,I would most likely get a Shepard....I have never met one I didn't like. They scare the hell out of some people, but really they are just really nice, cool dogs....

I love my German Shepherd, the hair is easier to manage in my experience as well. I think I live in the only household in my huge ass family that doesn't have a Lab. Personally, I love the personality of German Shepherds a lot more than labs, and they are more behaved, and smarter, than any lab I have ever met (excluding age).
But god forbid if they get an ear infection...
