wow Rhoads, that is a sweet axe. Anyone that has not played on a Fly, you should give it a try. Its just so perfect. I am a bass player, but in one of the bands I used to be in, the guitarist had one of those. It was just amazing. I am an old school bassist so its Fender Precision all the way for me. My first one was a 72 sunburst that had a terrible death during a show. I replaced it with a 91 black with a white pick guard and replaced the white pickguard with a black one so it looks unique. I also owned an Ibanez fretless bass for a while but I had to sell it due to needing to eat that week. I did like it though. I have used the same amp for years. A Dean 200 watt head powering a Dean 10" and a Fender 15" cabs. When I fancied myself a potential guitarist for a bit, I bought a really nice Ibanez (Cant remember the model) with neck through and a Floyd Rose. I still know the person who I sold it to and I have tried to buy it back but so far luck there cause its a really sweet axe.
This is a pick of me (with my bass) and the drummer in our most successful band taken about 12 years ago or so
Sleep, eat, conquer, meditate, repeat.

I was really into guitar back in junior high. In 8th/9th grade, I owned a Fender Mexican Strat (my first guitar) which I eventually modded with Sperzel locking tuners, a tortoise shell pick guard, and the lead pickup and volume/tone pots from an '80s Ibanez RX80 I believe it was. I also had a Squier Tele that I picked up dirt cheap just as an everyday practice axe to bring to school and not worry about, etc. Also had a friend's '76 Les Paul Custom for years and while it sounded beautiful, it just wasn't for me. About that time I also had a few different acoustics, one Johnson that was personalized by Joe Walsh and a basic Fender 6 string, both of which I still have somewhere. By the time I was 16 or so, I began to sell off my guitar stuff to fund my car obsession, but never could bring myself to sell the NiteFly. It's just so easy to play and does everything I want it to. All I really need to complete the combo is a good acoustic amp and an addon MIDI pedal for the ART. That is if I ever do get back into guitar..
On another note, I played in a steel band in 8th and 9th grade, and my buddy had a similar Fender Precision bass. His was the baltic blue color I believe it was. Very simple, but great sounding and easy to play bass.

My buddy has a white Parker Fly Deluxe. Its pretty sweet, but the tone is really limited. It makes a great shred guitar... perfect action. And it has to weigh less than 5 pounds. I mean, this guitar is freakin light as hell. It also has an acoustic simulator built into the electronics package. The Night Flys were relatively affordable. That Night Fly looks great in black.
I am at the point where I have so many guitars that I buy the guitar for how it sounds, more than how it feels. After playing for so long, you learn how to adapt your playing style to different guitars. I eventually want to get an American Strat, a USA Made Les Paul Custom, and a Taylor acoustic. For now, the Tele tone is great for playing blues/classic rock.

Rhodes,
What happened to that Les Paul? If I had a Les Paul Standard lik that, I would never let it go.

About the old Les Paul.. It belonged to one of my dad's friends who I guess just didn't play it anymore, so he basically gave it to me when I was 13. (I gave it back when we moved out of town 2 years later). If I remember correctly, it was a '76 Les Paul Custom, but could have been a Classic or Standard, I don't really know the difference. All I know is, while it had some great tone to it, playing it while standing up for anything more than a few minutes was a real pain. That thing must have weighed a good 15 pounds..

Re: New Axe!
Have you ever had a moment where, after an hour or so of browsing around and trying out guitars, you pull one down from the shelf, play a chord, and then the world stops for a moment?
Fender American Standard telecaster, 2007 natural finish Alder body with Maple neck. I suppose I'll eventually have to stop stroking it to, y'know, eat, but not any time soon.
