Man i've been all over the International Luge Federations web site and just cant find where it says they inspect the track at all. I see plenty of areas where they set the rules for the game but nothing on inspections. I did find
The International Luge Federation (FIL) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the highest authority in all questions which concern the sport of luge.
Still nothing about being the ones that inspect and certify the track. Humm do they have another web site where you get your information?

You said " They should have let other countries inspect it " and they did. So whats your point?. Turn on your TV once and a while.
You posted the article with information that has been heard numerous times, yes where i live in Vancouver.
Quit mashing the keyboard and think before you hit enter.
Hey look who did the investigation...!
" The death of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili was a result of the athlete losing control of his sled and not an unsafe track, the International Luge Federation said Friday night in a statement.
The men's singles luge competition will take place as scheduled at 5 p.m. PT on Saturday, after the completion of two practice runs. The luge federation did say that open it would raise the walls at the exit of curve 16 and shave down the ice, altering the sliding lines.
"It appears after a routine run, the athlete came late out of curve 15 and did not compensate properly to make correct entrance into curve 16," the federation said in a statement. "This resulted in a late entrance into curve 16 and although the athlete worked to correct the problem he eventually lost control of the sled resulting in the tragic accident. The technical officials of the FIL were able to retrace the path of the athlete and concluded there was no indication that the accident was caused by deficiencies in the track. "

While Vancouver Organizing Committee officials followed the guidelines established by sports federations for allowing access, they did not follow tradition. Many foreign athletes and federations were peeved over the relatively little training time on venues, from the ski courses to the speedskating oval and the sliding center."
You should read your own article you posted. Thanks for proving my point for me.
Despite the federation's declaration of a safe track concerns were raised well beforehand about the 1,450-metre course, its 16 turns and the fact the track record (153.937 kilometres an hour) was broken five times here in training. U.S. and international athletes had complained they weren't given enough time to learn how to master the course, given the speed it generated. Shelley Rudman, a skeleton racer from Great Britain, said she barely had a chance to "get an idea what this track is all about."
One question raised here Friday: Did Canada's decision to restrict the amount of access other nations had to the sliding track increase the danger?
What was that about hitting enter again?

I care, I just find it somewhat saddening that the point of topic is who is to blame. I bet there are plenty of people that feel like crap today because of it. I care more about some 21 year old dude dying, and hope that we make corrections so no one else is hurt.
