...On death row
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8515573.stm
Now I'm torn, partly because i don't like the death penalty and think it is giving them an easy way out. But also at the moment death row is even better (in terms of quality) then prison and thus it is crap as its like getting off much more easily (not that he had it as easy being blind, deaf, etc. etc.)
thoughts? oh and i'm perfectly fine with this turning into a debate on the death penalty, should you want to go that direction.

Re: Oldest Death Row inmate dies....
well, theres 2 basic appeals I think (Dads a lawyer, so I'm going off of a 2 year old conversation, so don't take my word as gospel truth), but any good lawyer can generate a mountain of paperwork for the prosecutor to do. And the appeal is basically a re-do of the original case, and they have to find time to get the original prosecutor back (I think), and find a time in the court (which can easily take 3-4 months depending on the state) for a time slot. Also any semi-decent lawyer will do an insanity plea, which has some special court hearing, in addition to having a state psychologist (and/or a private one if the convicts got the cash) having to come in and analyze the convict. And when everyone in death row is doing this, it slows down an already titanically slow Bureaucracy.
