Re: End of Toyota?
I bet you can get a good deal on one right now. They are probably the safest cars on the road coming out of the dealerships now.....the last thing they need is more bad pr.
This will hurt them, short term. But in a year or so,they will be as big as ever. We have a pretty short memory......after all,Firestone is still around, and Ford is still around.

Re: End of Toyota?
Toyota makes a good car... never owned one but fortunately the statistics on most sales, mpg, safty ratings and such have been subject in most of my classes.
It's bad that their quality controls let this problem slide to the point it did but really I don't see this being the end of Toyota.

Re: End of Toyota?
Toyota only fucked up when they let the US dictate their standards as far as what they offered. Toyota small trucks of the 80s were some of the best small trucks ever seen. I have an 89 camry that is going to keep going probably until the engine runs out from metal fatigue.

The other parts are there as well.
Toyota isn't dead, at least it doesn't owe its survival to government intervention.

Re: End of Toyota?
It isnt like they are built well, they were engineered wrong. I know that it can look really great on paper and unless you go look for yourself, arrogance will blind you. Of all the car companies, Toyota is in the best position to deal with this, if they do it right and not half-assed. This will also force the rest of the car industry to look at their own products. Lets just hope no one else gets hurt. PS, bring back the supra, just sayin.
