How are you treated at your work?

I was curious how people are treated at their work.

More specfically meaning how are you treated by your companies' customer base?

How you treated by the management of your employer?

The reason I ask these question is some days more then others I wonder if in my line of being Telecommunications & Cable are folks in my field of employment treated more frequently with disrespect and rudeiness?

Are we taken more advantage is the aspect of constantly being provided additional task and work and not getting properly compensated?

Things like this.

In research, everybody was nice so long as tangible results were produced (which I did produce).

In radio, the customer base were nice generally (a few bad apples here and there that I had to give a piece of my mind to). My direct boss was always nice, but the higher ups were...political.

i feel as i am treated very well. i came into my current job as part time a year and a half ago. I have no prior experience in this field except for some customer service. I also do not have a college education. Within a month of me working here I was moved to full time, given a mon-fri schedule working banker hours and full medical benefits ( meaning i had to have a mri done and it cost me 20 bucks).

I work in the customer service dept of a weather technology company. I make over 33k a year before this i was making maybe 19k. i feel like i get along great with my 2 bosses in my dept and with the owner of the company. i often work holidays for my company unless i specifically ask for it off, but I am given a additional day off added to my vacation days.

Only thing I have to complain about is the bitchy telemarketers that call here and i am the one answering the phone.

Also i do provide candy to everyone here at my desk... so that might account to me being on good terms with everyone.

I don't deal with customers, so I can't say anything on that point. But the management where I work is amazing and the benefits are numerous.

My company puts a lot of focus on employee development and one of our ideals "A Great Place to Work" though. Image is very important to them.

I work for a small tax firm so its really relaxed. Get along with everyone and its pretty fun. Though its only a seasonal job so il have to find something else to do in a few weeks

M boss is a Vietnam vet. tall white guy like 6'6 super blond hair.

he will not say anything about what I'm doing. sleeping, on the phone whatever as long as the work is done. however i once brought the headset for EvE online and i got the stink eye for that thou.

last year on the Friday before my two week vacay, he comes in my office about 11:30. He says I need you do something. I'm thinking fucking great I'm gonna have to come in on Monday or work late. Then hes says "I need you to get out of here right now and don't come back for two weeks" hands me my check and walks out. he also gave me nice tickets for a padre game at pet co park. (at least a $200 dollar value)

hes got funny work philosophies too. he says he will only hire ugly women. And that he doesn't pay you for your work, but for your loyalty. says he can get anyone to work for him but to find people who can believe in him and the work we do is different. hes says he will fight anyone in the office at his kickboxing gym if they want a piece of him. he give ridiculous bonuses, but he calls them pay offs in case he ever needs us to lie for him lol.

you have sick days and hungover days. on your hungover days you must come to work and be judged, if you look shitty enough you can go home.

on fridays hes comes in to work for one hour. from 10-11:00 then says ill be right back...but never ever in the yrs I worked for him has he come back.

Well for like myself. Customer interaction is frequent since I work a sales job technically in a call center though I actually work from home.

The majority people are interact with these days especially with this whole economy thing going on and generally cheap and rude.

OMG you charge for that? omg its that much?

I am like at one point jesus christ pay for what you can afford vs. what you want.

Then my direct members of mgmt. is like big drama club.

Like we just had this BIG PPV FIGHT and they think we will want to add more services to their bill. People are calling for one reason, the fight. Not to add channels or get new internet service or some other service. The fight. Thats it. So stop bitching about were not adding to customer account when all were getting calls is from existing customers who want some dumb ppv.

I'm a server in a restaurant...it's not bad.

my manager's are cool, but are fair. I know that if I fuck up, I will be disciplined accordingly......pretty much, they run the entire restaurant outta the employee handbook (corporate restaurants FTW).

the guests are a different story....I get so much shit...."What do you mean there's a charge for the salad? isn't it included

" "Well yes ma'am, it's included per entree. you're welcome to share your salad, but if i bring a refill, I have to add a charge for the person you're sharing with."

my FAVORITE BS response I get is "I've been coming to this restaurant for 30 years, and it's never been that way!"
well, I'm sorry the server's you've had for 30 years didn't do their job right. I'm not gonna risk mine for a 2 dollar charge on your check.
