Sopranos
Mad Men
Breaking Bad
Twin Peaks (maybe)
I feel like I'm not being fair here since these are all relatively new series. But honestly, TV being cinema quality is a relatively new thing that has been brought to us in the past 10 years or so. The TV of the 70's and 80's does not stack up to the cinematic masterpieces that were being made in those times, as far as I know (or maybe it's just not readily available or even commonly known). I look forward to a very bright future for more high quality "serial films"... which is essentially how I view a quality series.
