    Aye,

it's one thing if the cops come up, harrassing you and you exercise your rights. It's another to come up to a cop, on scene of a traffic violation.. with a handgun in open carry, and a camera. That is just asking for you to piss someone off.

If you walked up to some civilian who is talking to their friend, armed.. with a camera.. you think they will take kindly to it?

    Exactly.

    Like I originally said:

The guy may be an asshole and is pushing his luck, but he's not an idiot, in the sense of knowing his rights anyways. That's all I'm saying.. Dumbass for creating that situation, for sure. If you're in a similar situation (most of us here aren't douches like this guy) at least know your rights and that you don't necessarily have to be heckled.

That's all I'm trying to say, it's good to know you rights, but don't go around instigating shit like this just to prove you know your rights.

People are still ignorant about their rights tho. Cops can lie to gain consent and it's surprising how many people don't understand that. I'm all for civil rights stories, but I would much rather watch or read about a self defense story.

Here's a decent comment from some guy on that site:

Everyone, be careful. Although all this “civil rights” stuff is great, it rarely works in the real world. He drove up in a car, all they needed to say is he made some illegal action with his vehicle, or some lie about him being a “suspect”. Its that easy and the game is over. The camera saved him here. Also the broad daylight. If he was alone where no one could see, he would have been taken down, and taken down hard, and the camera would meet with a terrible accident. These two cops were caught off guard by the camera. You can bet they got together after wards and have since developed a plan to “deal” with a similar situation. They are not used to being refused, they didn’t know what to do. The next time he’ll “match the description of a wanted man”, or any number of a thousand other “probable cause” lies. Everyone do what you must, just be real careful when you watch this stuff. A lot of bad things can happen and exercising your rights rarely goes this smoothly.
I wouldn't go out looking for situations like this guy did. Really stupid, but atleast he had a camera with him, that saved his bacon... Oh and for the record, I haven't had one bad experience with a LEO in direct relation to carrying a firearm...

Yeah, and Rosa Parks should have just walked her ass to the back of the bus. :5

Sometimes you have to do something bold/stupid/whatever to make a point.

There is a time to be bold and a time not to be. This was not that time, but for Rosa Parks it evidently was.

Plenty of us attend rallies and such to uphold conceal carry laws in our respective states, these are things that can be done without harassment or an air of boldness that borders on stupidity.

Desperate times call for desperate measures... this guy wasn't desperate, just a douche.

Sure, in your opinion. I don't necessarily think what the guy did was the most intelligent thing, but the same could be said for your protests/rallies/demonstrations. I am sure some would argue that the people that matter never even know about your group, so what good do they do?

What good did this guy do? I think the majority opinion here is that he was not intelligent. What does this say about the rights he was talking about? Does it do well for the overall message of open carry to have this guy as a mouthpiece?

Rosa Parks already had her rights taken away, this guy didn't. He only gives fuel to those who would want open carry rights repealed.
