Nowhere did I say all cops are bad, but I have no issue with taping any/all cops as long as you don't interfere to try to find the bad ones.
It is the fact that now the cop has to keep an eye on that guy too, making his job more difficult. A guy with a gun on hip and a camera could be a guy just looking out for his GF or could be some bat shit crazy dude looking to post his 'cop killing' vid on youtube. The cop cannot read minds, so he has to be wary of this guy now. It turns a simple traffic stop into a 'situation'.

It would be like walking down the street in a big city with a loaded AK across your back, you are within your rights (if your state allows it) but you should accept that folks are probably going to call the cops on you because they are not used to it. Same thing with the cop, he isn't used to it and might not even be trained to deal with that exact kind of situation.

Really....would you, as a cop, feel comfortable with some dude just approaching one of your traffic stops, just randomly coming in behind you with a camera and flashing his gun? I highly doubt it.

And if the douchebag is so brave why doesn't he go to Philly or South Central or Jersey or any of those places that are commonly known for police abuse/brutality, instead of bothering a cop on a routine traffic stop in broad daylight in a suburban neighborhood.

Yeah, I mean all the cop shootings I hear about are people that open carry with a video camera and talk to the cop first.

No, but by your logic anyone driving/walking/riding a bike should be stopped, and possibly detained. They could potentially be a threat to the police officer as well. If I were a cop I would be more concerned about the dude slinging drugs, and the guy carrying an illegal mac 10, over some guy with a sony and a sidearm.

I don't believe the cop had much of a problem with the camera. It was how he approached the cop, initially got too close, and interrupted the traffic stop.

As stated, it might not be illegal, but it doesn't make it all right either.

You wouldn't be too concerned about those guys, when you are out of your vehicle, doing your job in a traffic stop. But you would be a little concerned about the guy with the gun on his hip, approaching you from the peripheral.... If you are not aware and concerned about that at that moment, then you aren't that good of a cop.

Possibly, but if that was the case why did the cop pursue him, and even call in backup, after the guy had peacefully and legally walked away? As stated, I don't think it was the brightest move, but I also think some of you are acting like he walked up with a camera on his hip and a gun pointed at the cop instead of the other way around.

Sure, I would be cautious and concerned about anyone that may pose a threat whether they have a gun, a camera, or nothing at all. He asked the guy to back up, and the guy complied, the traffic stop ended, and the guy walked away, then the cop continued it, not the other way around. So how concerned for his safety was he when he followed the guy?

And furthermore, this guy wasn't just "driving/walking/riding a bike"..... He walked up on a traffic stop intentionally and apparently too close for the cop's comfort. But I suppose those are meaningless details.
