So I'm supposed to come up with an idea to turn into a project/paper... This project is supposed to be 6-12mo long... and I haven't the slightest idea of what to do...

College just gets harder and harder (rofl)

Something's that's always facinated me is sticking a language VM into a kernel (e.g., linux), such that you can write drivers and other bits in the VM language and not C

python, Java, lua, or ruby could work (rather subsets of)

That's really interesting... like interfacing the VM with the kernel?

I'm just finishing up an undergraduate thesis here at school myself. Just do something your interested in and it make everything so much better.

One Idea

Write an iPhone/Android/Blackberry app for xfire and steam that allows you to communicate with people in your friends list.
