Yes and it's the only way to mount anything on an AK really. BUT..............

Once the new Larue "Iron Dot" is released (gotta call them since it's about that time) this is the way to go. Still get to use the iron sights as well. Well, if you want a scope that's a different story, but check it out, seriously bad ass.

Yes sir, with a bushnell 3-9 power on top of it. It is just high enough where I can use the irons and put my chin on the butt stock and use the scope.

I'm thinking about getting the tech sight receiver cover with peep integrated.



$110 bucks is a bit pricey though, not sure about it yet.

The larue is nice but i'm not sold that it can take the abuse I would put it through.

There are several other AK mounts actually Toker.

There is also a BP-02 mount that I have my eye on that sits damn near flush with the receiver cover but uses the standard soviet side rail.

someone posted it before, it was a picture of an AR-15 with the scope mounted to the A2 upper receiver that has the carry handle on it. I can't remember who it was but what model scope will I need to mount to the A2? I need to go ahead and write that down now so I don't forget about it....+1 for the wish list.

Kel-Tecs have the option as well I believe and are significantly smaller.

JMW that isnt a carry handle, it attaches to a rail on the other side of the AK about half way down the receiver. It is tall like that because it comes along the side then up and over the receiver cover on top. They didn't put them on top because they wanted the ability to be able to field strip the internals without taking the scope off the weapon.
