It must be a West Coast thing, because it's the same for me too. Anyone who says "Pop" sounds like a fruitcake.

An ice house is a beer bar. At least thats what most people I know are referring to.

Nobody says "would you like a soda". The waiter says, "do you want a coke or tea with that?"

Just like saying "I need to go xerox some copies of this". Pop is the dumb thing. Might as well call it a "fizzle" or some other lame name if that's how things get named.

Actually, I explicitly say "copy," just like I say "plastic-wrap."

And having waited tables, I say one of several things: "May I bring you something to drink with that?" or "May I bring you a drink to start with?" or if they look more rough and tumble I might switch to using contractions and colloquial expressions: "Can I get y'all some pints?"

And often they specify what they want, if they do not I might make a suggestion: "The fresh squeezed orange juice is delicious" or "Our bartender makes makes a mean lemonade" or "We offer Coke, Diet Coke, Mr. Pibb, Sprite, Barq's Root Beer or Surge."



I have never, when waiting tables or otherwise referred to soft drinks as "coke" unless it was Coca-Cola.



You southerners are strange. I bet you sweeten your iced-tea as well?

My grandfather always said "pop" but most people here say "soda." It is a drink based on soda-water after all.

Depends on my mood of the day. I usually go with Unsweetened. But I will drink Raspberry Ice Tea like it was water in the desert. I did at the Rain Forest Cafe outside Disney Land on my birthday. Best birthday dinner ever, they brought out the container I emptied of all their Raspberry Ice Tea and used it as a drum.

That is the ONLY Restaurant that I will allow people to tell the staff it is my birthday. Anywhere else and I walk out on them.

I love that brand because it is made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup. Although their "Jamaican Ginger-Ale" leaves something to be desired, but the orange-cream soda is awesome.

maybe there product improved in the last 20 or so years i was a kid last i had it only thing sold in a hospital vending machine and as for sugar cane soda mexican sodas use cane
