You drive out of Dunkin Donuts...

And you get cut off by some douche in a big-ass truck! It was already a hard week, and I thought going to DD would cheer me up before school. Had a donut In my hand, the other in the bag that was sitting on the passenger side seat. Drive down the road a few blocks, and Someone tries to merge on me! I slam on the brakes to avoid getting mauled over by an oblivious driver, and my bag goes flying onto the floor of my car. Glanced at it, and thought "at least it is still in the bag," but then I see my PHYSICS book, which was also in the seat next to me, go flying off the chair, and landed RIGHT ON TOP of the bag! I was honestly more pissed about the loss of my food than the guy that cut me off...

You need to learn to stand your ground when people aren't paying attention. A small accident is the only way for them to learn their lessons. Let them screw their selves over.

Number one, drive a heavier vehicle in the off chance that it will be heavier than the other car that's not paying any attention, end result will be the lighter vehicle will absorb more damage and will have a higher chance of being disabled after said accident. In the case of the other car being a big truck, your only solution is a backup car.

The problem with the above is if they don't have insurance then you might be screwed which is why it benefits to be sure to drive a vehicle that's indestructible (3/4 ton to 1 ton truck is your best bet, it's not really indestructible, just versus little cars, just remember, the poles will always win and these big guys absorb at the frame a lot of times which is super bad).

A little tip, most of the time they are paying attention, it is simply how they drive, aggressively. You may notice sometimes that their lane changes seem hesitant because I believe they are testing the waters, like a partial shift and they see the guy behind them in that lane hit their breaks then they complete the maneuver. A lot of times if you stand your ground you'll see them literally FLY back to their originally lane and give you a dirty look as you pass them like you did something wrong.

The car I drive cannot handle another accident. It has had 3 nose jobs within a span of 2 years when my brother would drive the car. We do not have the money to buy another car right now, new or used. I am about to head off to college, and that will cost us a lot of money. I understand the whole "stand your ground" thing, but it is stupid if it ends up hurting me, the other driver, or my car. I am in good health and hope to stay that way.

    Still miss that donut though...

It is not the impact with the other car that is the worry it is losing control and hitting a large stationary object a 1 ton truck or a compact car treats their occupants very similarly when that happens. Avoid accidents and don't take things too badly sometimes people are having a worse day than you are, I personally try not to drive when I am really having an off day as I know I make more mistakes.

You only lost a couple donuts and now know better than to let them share a seat with you school books.

You should have measured the force that your book exerted on your doughnut, and how many newtons are needed to squash the doughnut.
