INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Two Shelbyville men face charges of reckless homicide after police say they dealt narcotics that led to the death of two men.

Kyle Bowers and Samuel Woods are facing charges that they dealt narcotics that lead to the death of Larry DeWayne Saylor and Brett Fuller.

Police investigations into both deaths found that Kyle Bowers was connected to both men. Woods was also determined to be connected to Saylor’s death.

Police say Bowers was known to deal Methadone and was reportedly with Saylor and Fuller before they died

Bowers was arrested on charges of Dealing a Narcotic Drugs, Maintaining a common Nuisance and Reckless Homicide. Woods is charged with Dealing Cocaine and Reckless Homicide.

Interesting they get a reckless homicide charge, dont hear that much? Blame the dealer? Blame the drug? Blame them both?

Well I know one narcotic is ruled out for the cause of death.

Anything else must be unnatural and made with chemicals so I would say blame them both.

Three years state jail day for day should be about right.

well since they were getting methadone from those guys, I would say they were addicted to something else already..

Gotta reduce the population on the planet somehow right?

The reckless homicide charge is bullshit in my opinion. It seems that Larry and Brett willingly bought and used the narcotics.

Ah this is crap. Now I'm all for giving the dealers a nice harsh punishment for dealing in those types of dirty drugs, but to try and convict them for a homicide charge is just bull shit. People buy guns all the time from legit licensed dealers, say someone buys a firearm from one of these said dealers, and the person who buys the gun kills someone. Do we charge the owner of the gun shop for murder? No it's the damn idiot's fault for the killing. Same with the drugs. I go into a diner and order a steak rare, I die because of my choice in the cooking of the steak, do you charge the cook for homicide? No same with the drugs.

They have better chance on felony drug possession with intention to disturbute then that. Unless they is case law backing the District Atty Office. case up legally which I can't remember every hearing of such similiar case.

If those others were operating illegally then yes they could be charged the same way. If the gun dealer did was not a licensed operation and didn't follow appropriate back ground checks... If the diner is already in violation of health code and serving customers ever after getting a cease and desist order I could very well see that happening.

its all about operating outside the law to begin with.

The one at fault is the one with the addiction, not the one providing the drug as far as the death goes. The dealer did not force the addict to take the drug. Much like a liquor store not being at fault if you go driving and kill someone after consuming the bottle of booze they sold you. The driver is operating his vehicle illegally because of his consumption and is at fault for his actions, not the store.

They will be convicted of selling, but the wrongful death charges won't stand if the dealers have a good lawyer.
