    well they do say charred (blackened) can cause it. I would assume grilled cheese doesn't as you don't usually make a grilled cheese on an actual grill. Not going to lie, don't know what Pittsburgh style is (Not a big steak eater) but probably would fall under something in the study.

    Of course being texas, it just might be that all them being overweight is the real cause :P

    Burgers: Medium Rare
    Steak: Medium Rare

    All meat needs a little red in it (Except chicken, that's just nasty)

    When I was in Brasil, I ate a lot of raw ground meat. I was hesitant but my girl's family who preped it assured me that it was safe.

    Steak=Med. Rare
    Burger=Med. Rare

    I don't think it is the actual level of doneness that cause the cancer, bu the method of cooking, like grilling. I think because you have to keep the meat exposed to the element longer on a well done steak than a med rare one, is the cause of all of the carcinogens being ingested. I'm sure if they sous vide two steaks one to 135o and one to 165o the level of carcinogens in/on the meat would be the same.....

    Steak......... Med Rare
    Burgers...... Medium

    Why Ruin a good steak by cooking it till it looks like a piece of Charcoal ?? Or Any meat for that matter unless its Blackened.
    On a personal note ....... having a brother who died of cancer I don't think Any doctor knows Where or How or What Causes cancer ! Having said that I believe in the old saying.......... You are What you eat. I try not to eat alot of Processed foods sticking mainly to fresh or frozen food. Adding all the chemicals in processed foods Can't be good.

    Pittsburgh Style is awesome. It's charred on the outside, but still rare to mid rare on the inside.

    When I eat my steak I like it red and bloody, I'm a rare fan, and Pittsburgh is my favorite when I go to steak joints.
    Burgers depends on the place, I have them medium at more questionable places, but rare at the better ones.
    Oh and JMW - raw ground beef is delicious, a German restaurant I used to go to sold steak tar tar, and it's one of my ultimate favorites.

    I can eat steak tar tar... but not a huge fan of it. It's the texture more than anything. But I do love my steaks charred on the outside and rare to medium rare on the inside. Mmmmmmmm.

    I always go Med-rare on steaks, sometimes medium. I'll never go more than that though, or else the meat loses most of its flavor.

    I'll post this here because I love all of you
