Is TTP really growing?
Legitimate question. Is TTP really growing? What do you consider growth? Out of the X amount of members, how many are really here and posting? Out of the X amount of members that register each month, how many actually stick around, post, and contribute? Not many...
As an example, TG is making TTP look like chumps, statistically speaking.. I'm a TTP loyalist (to the members, not really the leadership) and it saddens me to see such stagnant growth.
We need to drop the Texas name already and bring on the vB. Not a news flash, I'm sure... What do you think?

Re: Is TTP really growing?
Without looking at numbers or anything, I would say TTP has likely shrunk a bit over the last year. After the last large chunk of active forum participants broke off, we haven't really seemed to recover with the same number of new faces taking an active role in the forums.
Yeah we host some new games and such, but a majority of that is just players leaving their old primary games and playing a new one. A lot of times in TF2 (and from what I hear, in BF2 as well) we play with very few regs and a majority of non TTP gamers.

I think where TG has an advantage is that they give you reasons to be active on the forums. They do special things for their members. Some people may think that pins and ribbons for competing in matches are lame, but some people get off on that. They have divisions in PR that battle each other for bargging rights and what not. I think that is one area we could improve. Offer matches, scrims, tournies, whatever for "active" members.

Re: Is TTP really growing?
It's no different than post count... Some people are all about post count and that's why they frequent the forums. A number of boards I've been on have "ranks" based on post count and there are people that live for that shit. Little "mean nothing" things like having a star next to your avatar for having won or participated in a little tourney are things people want to see in a forum. I haven't been to TG to see what they do, but from other forums I've been on and set up, I know it's the little shit like that that brings people in and makes them post.
The flipside... Sometimes posting to get said little nothings sometimes leads to stupid posts just for the sake of posting.

Re: Is TTP really growing?
Sure, give out silly titles under the name for post count or whatever else if that brings people in...
I would definitely prefer not to have the avatar sized medals and such that places like TG gives out. They just look ridiculous in my opinion.

Re: Is TTP really growing?
I think it starts from the top down. Why come to a website? Ask yourself that question...why do people come to a website of a server they play on...what exclusive stuff do people gain by coming to TTP.com? Why waste the time?
These are the questions that have not been answered by our upper managment. We have mods that lock everything, people who are hypocritical in what rules are stated, and people who just flat out dont get how to run a "company" if you will....
If our bread and butter of our website is our forums...then we need to lighten up on our policies and procedures....like the no "drug" references...this has gotten completely out of context. There is no "filter" that will ban a website because it has the word "metodone" or "Cocain" on it...if so...MSNBC and every other news outlet would be banned. Simply dont promote the use of drugs... (this is just an example)
Just little things like that...Not to mention banning people from the website anytime there is a scuffle...some people are groups, cliques if you will...like the whole sTo thing...that was alot of traffic and people, to ban for...what exactly? having opinons?
Maybe I am the stupid one thoughSo ill just go back to gaming...

Re: Is TTP really growing?
TBH i don't think Texas name has anything to do with members. we got all the members we have now, most of which don't live in Texas.
i don't have the numbers so i cant say ttp has grown or not.
i can only say TTp has gotten a cliq-clan-ish and I think its been harder for outsiders to break in and feel comfortable.
The good side of that is once people get thou and post they tend to stay. rather then just register and disappear.
so i guess the influx of causal ttpers is less but more dedicated players are up.

30 guest and 39 users in the last 10 minutes.....
So, define how you base your numbers for growth and what we sustain....
Show me your statistical figures..... Matter of fact, why don't you show the rating of our website (growing like crazy), while you are at it.....
I am very interested in how you got to your analysis.
Show me your wisdom.

Re: Is TTP really growing?
I think we are sitting at 700-900 active users (based on login times, avg session duration, frequency of visits), which has been fairly constant for a while.
Id shoot some actual data out but the tables would lock. :3
