I find it funny people become teachers knowing full well it doesn't pay all that well. Then they turn around and bitch that they aren't being paid enough. Yet i never seem to hear about all that extra time off they get during the summer when everyone else is working. Its a catch 22. You cant have everything no one can.

Hell yeah my school does. Our new track/football field is SEXY as hell, but our building itself is falling apart. But our track is SEXY

I am sure that bitching is limited to teachers, or for sure government employees in general, because I never hear anyone else complain about how much they make.

LOL exactly. Every feels they should make more than what they already do. Myself included. I thought the same thing before flooring prices started to drop and now i sit around saying i guess next i'll start paying the shops so i can go to work. Yet they are many people that would love to make what i do in a week. Just human nature to feel we deserve more than what we are getting.

The government at large has proven time and again that they are poor managers of money.

I'd much rather look for ways to rework the way that our school systems spend the billions of dollars they already get. My dad was a public school teacher for 20 years, so I sympathize with them for making so little money...but when the Principal rolls up in a Mercedes and the district offices have thousand dollar desk chairs and marble floors...I get a little perturbed when the fat cats in public education (and there are fat cats...trust me) whine about needing more money.

How is this sales tax going to affect local/state businesses/trade?

No. If they had a bake sale or raffle or whatever I'd probably spend a few bucks, but definitely not going to support a tax

If you look at a graph of student scores over the last 40 years when we had the most dramatic increase in spending on education you will see that on average the scores are Flat. For all the money that has poured into the education system...... kids aren't the Least Bit smarter.
