Re: this pisses me the f*** off

Looks like they realized they fucked up. I have no defense for those doing drugs, selling drugs or other wise involved. I do however defend the right to be treated fairly and with due process. Para-military forces entering a home for a warrant screams of revolutionary times and what the founders fought against. They wanted due process, protection, even for those accused of crimes. ie 5th amendment. Suspected murderers, molesters, arsonists, they all deserve that they receive justice in the courts, if they waive that right by opening fire on the police, shame on them, I will defend the officers use of force.

"most extreme circumstances" hopefully very extreme...

The decision to execute a drug warrant will now be made by higher-ranking officers, Columbia Police Chief Ken Burton said at a news conference Monday afternoon.

"We did some things wrong," Burton said. "And I'm telling you, it won't happen again."

The use of the department's SWAT team in conducting a drug raid will now:

?Require the approval of a captain in the department in charge of the area where the raid is to take place

? Require that a location be under constant surveillance once the warrant has been issued
?Not take place when children are present except "under the most extreme circumstances," Burton said..

The raid came eight days after police obtained the warrant on tips from two confidential informants. Police suspected Whitworth of dealing a large amount of marijuana but only found a pipe and what police described as a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.

Whitworth later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and was fined $300. He has not filed a lawsuit or a complaint with the department, though his lawyer said Monday that Whitworth was still considering all his options.

Monday's news conference was the department's second in less than a week. On Thursday Burton answered reporters' questions with Mayor Bob McDavid at his side to dispel false rumors about the incident and also to announce that raids would now be served within eight hours after police obtain a warrant.
i'd like to know beofre this what the rank of the executing officer had to be

and what if any surveillance there was

and as i thought they got tips from CI confidental informants are nothing but criminals who turn snitch to keep there ass outa jail and when they get pressed by the cops for a bust they will give them anything i bet

served within 8 hours of the raid ? how long did these guys wait was the ink even dry on the warrent

surveillance = knowing when they will be leaving = not having to barge in occupied house
or just making the arrest in the front yard

or knowing the amount of traffic coming in and out of the house trailing the suspect to see where he stores the product or where he meets his supplier

All would come in handy when trying to make that big bust.

C'mon, No reason to bust in in the early AM, nor to shoot the man's dogs.
It's not like people who deal pot would ever deal anything else. They did their job. Not exstatic about killing the dogs but the big picture makes it that way. None of us nor the swat team knows the potential for an animal to attack. Those cages will not hold an animal in that wants out bad enough. My sister has gone through 4 or 5 of them with her dog. They do it so none of them get hurt in the process.

Could have been avoided by getting a real job like the rest of us. Pretty simple.
I'm thinking that if he was dealing anything else, they would have known, and they would have been able to find and charge him as such. But all they got him on was hippy lettuce paraphernalia.
You have a copy of that warrant? Have the file on this guy? Or the more likely talking out of your ass again? Making assumptions on things you simply do not know.
Yeah, when I start off a paragraph with "I'm thinking that if"..... Then yes, you fucking genius, I am indeed making an assumption. Considering that all that they gleened from the search was pot paraphernalia, then apparently he wasn't dealing anything else.

I speculated that "if he was dealing anything else, they would have known", and in someone's posted follow-up article, all they got out of the raid was paraphernalia possession....... Doesn't sound like coke, heroin, X or anything else. Basic deductive reasoning brings me to this conclusion.

As far as talking out of asses......... that's your department, you do a much much better job than anyone in the forums.

No you just like throwing around assumptions like they are facts. You dont know specifically why they went there any more than any of the rest of us. For all you know he just unloaded a pallet of herion the day before. That was my point you didnt read the warrant ,you didnt read the guys file, you didnt read what the informants had to say about it.

All you did was post your hippy lettuce post like you knew something. I'm glad you have an opinion but your kind of short sighted. Meaning if it isn't right in front of you it never happened. Just maybe there was more to the whole thing that what we actually know about it.

I was actually going to retract that statement i made with a remark that maybe you read something on the topic that i hadn't had a chance to yet but then you posted this lovely little post. Now im glad i didnt because once again you didn't fail to fulfill your place here.
