    Re: iced tea

The Popey's Chicken on base here brews the best ice tea around these parts. But that is not saying much. I did have a nice cup of chai tea at the Indian food place last week though. They serve many flavors and I will have to try some of their others. I really like a nice Earl Grey with milk and sugar in the winter, but come summer time, I am all over traditional table wine.

    Re: iced tea

Sweet tea is just iced tea mixed with simple syrup (1:1 sugar to water mixture). tetley/nestea also has flavor (usually lemon, but others too), and very often has high fructose corn syrup, which is a lot worse for you than simple syrup.

high fructose corn syrup and "instant tea", plus a buncha foreign ingredients...ie, tea flavored soft drink, minus the carbonation.

    Bill Millers sweet tea
Not really a big tea fan but I worked at Bill Millers and enjoyed the tea. People asked all the time what it was that made it so good. Its just Luzianne with a lot of sugar, but one girl would tell people we used brown sugar, they would say "oh, thats what it is." I wonder how many went home and made tea and used brown sugar.

    Propoganda from corn growers.

This manufactured fructose is sweeter than sugar in an unhealthy way, and is digested differently in a bad way. Research has shown that "high-fructose corn syrup" goes directly to the liver, releasing enzymes that instruct the body to then store fat! This may elevate triglyceride (fat in blood) levels and elevate cholesterol levels. This fake fructose may slow fat burning and cause weight gain. Other research indicates that it does not stimulate insulin production, which usually creates a sense of being full. Therefore, people may eat more than they should. Indications also are that the important chromium levels are lowered by this sweetener which may then contribute to type 2 diabetes. Obesity is a contributor too.
