The iPhone will not be on any other provider for awhile.

The iPhone uses gsm while verizon uses CDMA.

Apple known for keeping one thing. The only way the iPhone will go elsewhere is when AT&T and verizon switch to the LTE network. Which is a little bit done the road.

Tmobile could have it. But tmob is known for the "lower" class of people. Apple wants people who want to spend lots of money.

And sprint is not so good. Even though are trying they have a lot of room to catch up to AT&T and verizon. And sprint uses CDMA.

Also I think, I'd have search bu I'm on my phone now, that apple and AT&T signed a five year agreement back in 2008.

The exclusive agreement between Apple and AT&T ends this summer. That is when the iPhone will go to other carriers, and when more Droid phones will come to AT&T.

I guess it depends on who you believe. The big thing is Apple wants a larger market share, and being available on Sprint and Verizon would accomplish this. AT&T would also like to be able to carry other phones, like the Droids, and feel that the iPhones are data hogs causing more congestion on their weak network. Win/win for both sides to get out now.

what ever you do, do not get a windows mobile phone... never had a phone bluescreen on me while attempting to call 911

The Windows Phone 7 Series is supposed to be good. It has a zune-like interface, and I bet it will take off nicely. Personally, I have the Motorola Droid. I bought it the day it came out and I have no regrets. The Incredible looks like an awesome phone, and I would recommend it over the Motorola Droid because of the nicer screen and the faster processor. Sometimes the Motorola Droid is just... slow. At least slow compared to my friend's Nexus One, which is also a 1GHz phone like the Incredible.

Either way, Android phones are starting to really threaten the iPhone territory.

Yet another reason AT&T wants out of the contract with Apple.
