Re: Guitar Pedals: Part 2
Z's are custom hand wired, every single one of them...and brad and Mike (dr z) are the nicest people you will ever talk to..
Revera's are sick fucking amps too. A buddy of mine here in indy is a world renowned blues player. He plays a revera and that thing screams.
Damn, if I would of known you were in Tampa, I would of hit you up last year when we were in Lakeland FL, we played at the Lakeland center with the CBR (championship bull riders) On our off day, we hit st pete over never tampa and went swimming...Last edited by Kraker Jak; 05-30-10 at 11:09 AM.

Nice setups everyone. I'm in the market as far as amps go and I'm looking for ideas to build a custom board for my pedals. I don't really use anything too fancy. I use an original Cry-Baby, Boss DD7, and a Boss ME-50 (I only use it for the volume :/ ) and I just use my distortion straight out of my amp. I have been using my Roland 60 solid state amp. It's a tough little cookie but I'm getting quite sick of my lack of options with it. My most recent guitar teacher/mentor I've been with for about 4 years now and I've really started taking after his playing style, which does alot more of southern rock/bluegrass/jazz type playing and My solid state just isn't cutting it anymore. I'm looking for a nice sturdy tube amp and will probably go with the OCD, (I've heard tons of good things about it and I dig the tone it gives). Anyone use that Ibanez Tube-Screamer pedal? Most people I've talked to say they like it but rarely use it.
By the end of the summer I'm gonna be running into some extra cash and will probably end up upgrading my amp around that time. Those Z's and Revera's Kraker has been talking about look like they might be worth it to look into.

They are pricey, but they are worth it. Really, you can take what everyone tells ya, but everyone is different. You may go play a bogner, or an oragne, and love it...I personally love Bogners as well...and classic AC30's.....
Tube screamers are bad ass. I have the TS808 as you can see in my pics, its the green pedal...IMO the best pedals are ones that have been moded by people who know what they are doing. Keely Compression mods are bad ass...

ZOOOOOOOMBIES FROM THE GRAVE!
I've been known to noodle some on the geetar:
The one on the left is for sale:
This is my baby though: Deluxe w/reverse headstock:
I put a custom waterslide on there & clearcoated it, unfortunately, it quickly cracked, but looks cool:
That neck is destined for my MIM (one with the maple neck) & I have a new lefty maple I'm prepping for the Deluxe.
I play thru an Axe-FX II (now), pictured here is my Axe-FX Ultra, thru a kick ass red 1960a cab from the 80s:
Here's my band in our new practice "space":
Onstage with all our lights/projections:

I just swapped out the Crybaby Original wah for a Fulltone Clyde Standard wah. I found one on eBay for $160 (classic white) and when it arrived, it would hiss and pop every time you engaged the pedal. I opened it up, sprayed the moving parts down with some control/contact cleaner and now it sounds good as new!
I also bought an Empress Vintage Modified Super Delay for $380 on eBay. Other than the real Tube Tape Echo delay unit, it is the best delay I have ever heard. The big problem is that the size of the pedal is just too massive for my Pedal Train PT-1 board. I don't want to up-size my board, so I will be keeping the MXR Carbon Copy delay and selling the Empress (shouldn't have any trouble getting what I paid for it). I also have an Analogman King of Tone pedal that will soon be up for sale as I just can't get a sound that warrants the price I paid for it like I can out of my Tube Screamer TS808 Hand Wired.
The Boss DS-1 has come off and on the board over the past few months, but I have failed to find a distortion pedal to fit into the grind for 90s rock. I have tried both the MXR Distortion Plus and Distortion III, and most recently the ZVEX Box of Rock, but they were all sold and the old orange boy, $20 used, DS-1 made it's way back onto the board. Thousands of dollars in pedals, but sometimes real rock and roll comes at a small price!

The Axe-FX stuff is cool, but it just doesn't sound the same as a good tube amp and a great pedal board. They do metal tones just great, but if you play ANYTHING other than metal, it just turns to rubbish.
Don't get me wrong... I could totally have some fun screwing around with the millions of sounds you can make with this thing. I used to have a Fender Cyber Twin SE and I loved making custom tones to match specific songs, and it was a great practice amp, but it just didn't deliver in a live environment.
Give me my tubes and analog pedals!

I redid my pedal board this week. I replaced my Dunlop DC Brick with the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 +, added a new Fuzz pedal and also picked up a Boss BF-3 flanger pedal. My BF-2 broke years ago and I never replaced it. I decided it was time for me to get some flange back in my life.
In order to get the new power supply, I had to sell my King of Tone V4 and my Homebrew Electronics Dos Mos booster. I still have a Fulltone Full Drive 2 for sale and I am debating on selling my Holy Grail Reverb since I use my 63 Fender Reverb for pretty much everything nowadays.

Here are the pics:
Here is the bottom. Cable management is important like on your PC, but you aren't worried about heat as much as you are stuff moving around and possibly becoming disconnected. Nothing like having your rig stop responding in the middle of a gig.
