Re: need new sunglasses... suggestions?
I love my Oakley's. My last pair lasted 10 years (in Texas so they got a shitload of use). My current pair I bought last year and absolutely love them. I went for the polarized and the view is damn clear. I tried other cheaper glassed, but they seem to tint the lens too much and my eyes still felt strained. The Oakley's feel like I am seeing everything in HD.

Oakley's for me too...they've never failed me. I have 2 pair, E-Wires and X-Metal Penny's. neither of which are made anymore. I need new lenses on the e-wires because the coating is flaking off since those have seen a hell of a lot of ocean water (they're also ~14 years old)

Polarized lenses are definitely the way to go. They not only provide a better quality vision, they protect your eyes better than non-polarized lenses. Non-polarized lenses (especially cheap ones) just darken everything, which causes your pupils to dilate, letting more damaging sunlight into your eyes. Polarized lenses effectively diffuse the incoming sunlight and don't make everything seem so dark.
I've got a prescription pair of sunglasses that I wear pretty much any time of day. (Columbia frames) I even wear them when I drive at night. Helps with the glare of the headlights of oncoming traffic, especially if it's raining. I've been wearing them less now that I got a pair of glasses with Transitions lenses. I only wear the sunglasses now when outdoors for extended periods of time or if I'm going to be driving for an extended period of time (The windows of your car block most of the UV rays that activate the Transition lenses.)

Yeah I have way too many pairs of glasses. I have my Maui's for sunny days and contacts, my Oakleys for when i'm not wearing contacts, transitions if I'll just be out and about for a bit (or at work - if I serve out on the patio it allows me to have sunglasses!). For night driving I actually have another pair of glasses that has this anti glare coating that work wonders, it's pretty freaking swell (these are also good for monitor glare in class and whatnot)
Taking care of your eyes is a biggie, spend the money for something good IMO.
