Suggesting that a female should have jumped in to help the dog tells me that you do not know a lot about wild animals. I would never want my wife to try and defend our dogs against any wild animal that was powerful enough to hurt or kill the dog in the first place. Explain your thinking there.

Fucking blown there head off eh? How? At what angle? At what point? What would you have used? What about the houses all around? What about the other men women and children in those houses? Where would you have shot it from? Would you have known your back stop? Would you have known where the bullet or bullets would have gone if you missed? Can you hit a deer in the head that is jumping around the way this one was in the head? The dog got fucked up from start to finish in 20 seconds. What do you have handy that you could have grabbed in 20 seconds? Do you keep loaded weapons that close and handy? I am not trying to be a dick but I got a $100 that says you would have been crying like the women. Not trying to be hard on you man just making you think through a situation. This one is very complex from a protecting the dog standpoint.


For me.... I would not want my wife to do a fucking thing other than call animal control and take the dog to the vet ASAP. For me, I would have tried to find a near by weapon and then I would have tried to scare the deer off and defended myself if needed. Caution and patience would have been my focus. As soon as the deer left I would have wanted to get my dog to the vet ASAP. I got a house full of guns but to be out side and witness this event and then go in and grab one within 20 seconds would be a stretch. Even then I would have to change my position to make sure I was not shooting into a house, by stander or vehicle.

Scare the deer if possible and get the dog to the vet.

As said, I have more than plenty fire power and skill to kill the deer. I killed my 100th when I was 26 and that was 10 years ago. I stopped counting.

This story ended the way it did because the dog did not put up much of a fight. If it would have then shit would have been much worse.

Sucks to be the dog, but thats what happens when you get too close. How about we stop taking up farm land to build houses? Maybe that deer would have a place to roam?

Your two pits would have slaughtered this deer. Either of them alone would have been a crap shoot. It would have been the old "whoever gets the first lick wins" situation.

Look up vids on two does fighting. Female deer are fucking crazy.

I feel you man, the thing with this video though is that the dog never saw it coming from my perspective. Dogs on the hunt and dogs being blind sided are two different things. I am still calling a crap shoot. If your pit was ready or on the offensive then I say either of them may win. If they were blind sided that first blow could be enough to drastically change the outcome.

My young lab may have been able to do something. He weighs 105# and doe not have an ounce of fat. My old one would have looked like or worse than the dog in the pic. He was tough in his prime but he is 13 and fat now lol.

This... HAHA!

Bad dog owner. That dog had no business being there. Unfortunately, the dog got what it deserved to no fault of it's own. It was a threat to the deer and the mother was just doing what comes natural. The owners should be cited for animal neglect/cruelty for allowing their pets to be put in such a dangerous position. The poor dog just didn't know any better.
