Bass Fishing...For money

Hey guys!

Like i have promised, I have joined a group here in Indiana affiliated with the FLW. My first tournament will be July 17th, a night tournament on Raccoon lake (indiana)...I'm pretty fucking stoked...

Any hardcore night bass fishers here? Hit me with some knowledge..

I use to do about 6-8 night tournaments per summer. I always felt that darker bates were better. I fished a lot more top water as well.

yea nuckle, I was reading alot about it. I got some good buzz baits and the rage frog, eliminator, space monkey and shad can all be top water. I hope I do really good...I figure myself to be an above average bass fisher...but you never know...

So as far as where they are at...I m getting mixed reviews. Some say shallow, some say deep, some say suspended over cover etc...what have you found?

Hey Kracker I fish about 20 bass tournaments a year ranging from small club tournaments to larger B.A.S.S. federation tournaments. I've only fished at sunset but not at night but I've heard a black spinner-bait fished slowly is a good choice. I would throw a purple or black senko at scattered grass and weed edges. Also a black jig. Are you fishing as a co-angler or do you have your own boat?

I have found their patterns to just as different at night as during the day. I have caught them in the shallows around stumps, in deep water structure and right off weed beds. You really need to do your homework and go fish some nights before the tourney to get a good idea. Use baits that you may normally keep in the box. I have seen some monsters caught using a jigger pole but I am not sure it is legal these days in sanctioned events.

yea, I hope I can get over to the lake before hand to get a good idea what its about. It's a good size lake, just need to do some recon...

Rage tail makes something called a Rage Shad...its like a top water buzbait, but its a soft plastic. This thing moves SOOOO much water when it runs...I'm hoping this is my meal ticket...because not to many people have jumped on the rage tail wagon yet...

For sure.

getting dumped is easy in the dark when you can't see the stumps coming.

We almost lost a friend this past duck season when he got dumped by an invisible stump into 40 degree water. scary.
