Thread: TPG mafia round one: that's right, it's finally started

Our heroes in this epic game of wit consist of:

I've used a random number generator to give everyone their roles, so don't think that you can guess them by order of numbers :P

Rules:

1. remember, mafia is a game of deception, the only rules are don't discuss the game outside of this topic. The only exception to this is for mafia-sided members, who during the night phase get to talk in secret.

2. you can try to prove your innocence any way you'd like (however, NO pictures. you can try to fake your role, but do not screencap your PM telling you what role you are)

3. If you are mafia-sided, do not give away the link to the mafia chatroom. If you are village sided, do not try to find the mafia chatroom.

other than these two golden rules, literally anything goes! You can even copypaste the message I sent to you if you want, but be wary, sometimes it only makes you look guilty!



Roles:

I won't tell you who is what, but I'll give away a list of what roles will be in play:

Town Aligned:
----------------------------------

Villager: The vanilla unit for the town, the villagers have no unique ability, they are just there to help figure out who is the mafia.

Bodyguard: The Bodyguard is used to protect other players once per night. If somebody tries to kill the protected player, then there is a 50% chance the bodyguard will die in the player's place, and a 50% chance the attacker will die in the player's place.

Watcher: The Watcher can watch one person per night. At the end of the night, the watcher will know who visited that person.

Tracker: The Tracker can track one person per night. At the end of the night, the tracker will know who that person visited.

3 Villagers, 1 BG, 1 Watcher, 1 Tracker

Mafia Aligned:

Mafia grunt: There is one standard mafia member in this game, not having a special ability either, unless you count being a mafia member an ability.

Silencer: The silencer can pick one person per night. The affected person can not talk (post) during the next day phase.

Janitor: The Janitor can select one person PER GAME during the night phase. If that person dies during the same night phase, then the role will not be revealed to the players. Only the janitor will know the role of the player.

1 grunt, 1 silencer, 1 janitor.



For those of you who forgot how to play:

Mafia has 2 phases: Day and Night.

During the night phase, power roles can perform their actions - for example, the mafia talk secretly with each other and decide who they want to kill, the bodyguard chooses someone to protect, and so on.

During the day phase, people discuss between them and try to figure out who the mafia is. People may vote to lynch, or execute, other people, and when everyone votes - the person that 50% or more of the town votes, is lynched. The town may also vote No Lynch, if they feel like they aren't sure about who is a mafia and who is a townie.

The town wins once all of the mafia are dead.

The mafia wins once they outnumber the town. (For example 2 mafia and 2 townies = mafia won)

How to vote on a lynch. (day phase)

There are many ways you can vote, I'm pretty relaxed about this. Just post on the topic after you've discussed it with the other players. I'll be reading the topic, so I should have no trouble finding it. The only rule is, don't send me a message with your vote, because votes are not anonymous; be up front with who you're voting for. In the event that you are silenced, you can't speak, but you can still vote. If you are silenced, and wish to vote, simply type "Vote: Knee"
except replace Knee with the player name.


How to vote to night kill. (night phase, obviously)

during the night phase, after you've discussed it with your mafia friends (if you're mafia), send me your vote through a PM. It's that easy


How to perform your night action:

if your class has a night action, send it in to me during the night phase. for instance, if you are the bodyguard, just send me a PM that tells me who you want to protect that night.

So, who is mafia? Anyone ballsy enough to say they are one of them? Hm?

seeing as you have no way to tell who is mafia and who is townie, I'd recommend a no-lynch. This is merely my suggestion, and I'm not going to help you guys in any way other than this.
