Thread: gamestop doesnt tell you how much credit/cash they are giving for used games

i wanted to get rid of my red dead redemption game and called gamestop to see how much they would give for it. they tell me they dont do quotes over the phone.

i can think of several reasons why they dont do this anymore, but still...

I'm guessing that they have to see the condition of the game first.

They should at least be able to give you a rough estimate though. I know we did that when I worked at Gamestop. Having the box and game manual helps too of course since they don't have to make their own (they will give you cases at least but if it doesn't come with a manual, then they just don't sell it with one) and thus is more profit for them.

I have heard that a lot has changed since I worked there though, but that should be something easy they can do regardless as it should be fairly simple if you can detail the damage/condition of the disk and at least get a rough estimate over the phone.

and the chances you might take whatever deal so your not draging the game around who knows but they wont give you much better off using the local craigslist

The reason you can't get an estimate over the phone is twofold.

One; the store needs to see the condition of the disc and box/manual. This doesn't change the price a great deal but if you are missing the box and manual and your game is scratched all to hell they can save the argument, "but over the phone you said u can get $10"

Secondly; they have research that proves if you are in the store with game in hand, and stuff you want to buy all around you, you are fat more likely to take their shitty offer. It's 'effin science

Interesting. I just traded in a bunch of games and they told me that they like customers who bring in boxes/manuals etc. However all they need is the DVD/Blu-ray disc.
