    College Football 2010

No-one is talking about the new season? . So far a few decent games, I haven't gotten to see all of them so can't talk too much but I know Zona had a good game in Toledo, with Foles going 32/37 for 300+ yards and a couple TDs. Plus the defense actually held someone to under 7 points :O.

Caught the 4th quarter of Tonights VT/Boise game which had a good ending, though not sure if it was due to Boise doing better on their drive, or just smarter defending by them then by VT.

Elsewhere, USC had a shootout with Hawaii, Utah beat Pitt in overtime (Utah is on my radar now, partly because they are joining the Pac, and partly because they are BYU's rivals ), LSU beat North Carolina (another good game), Oklahoma almost lost to Utah State, and my favorite.....Ole Miss losing to Jacksonville State

This coming weekend NAU's football team heads down to Tempe, which will probably be an ass kicking :/, Though I'm holding hope they beat ASU (more due to my hatred of ASU). Probably won't go to the game, just as I don't feel like making the drive down, that and the weather will still be shit in Tempe, and 100+ degrees + Sun Devil Stadium=Hell

TCU had a nice win vs Oregon State, so hopefully OSU has a good season to help their numbers since nobody else will schedule TCU and their conference sucks.

TCU is overrated, and so is Boise State even though they got their one good win for the year tonight.

If all these crappy conference top 25 darlings had to play in a decent conference with the week after week grind of playing real teams they wouldn't be darlings anymore.

    1. I don't dispute this, but if they are so weak then why won't many other decent schools schedule them? TCU had a home and home agreement with Oklahoma, but once TCU beat their ass one year that got cancelled.

    2. I would love to see TCU join the big 12.

    Re: College Football 2010

Let me get my Boise State rant out of the way. Are they a good team? Obviously. Do I personally believe they deserve a shot at the title game? Absolutely not, for a plethora of reasons. First off, strength of schedule....it's lacking every single year. They play one BCS conference team at the beginning of each year (entire off-season to prepare) and generally a good team in a bowl game (again 3+ weeks to prepare). I refuse to believe they could sustain the level they play at in those games every week against quality opponents. Imagine if they had to go play Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida State, etc....next week after this weeks game, then had to play another team like that 2 weeks after that game....I don't believe they could hold up physically. When was the last time you heard about a boise state skill player being injured? You never do....and their players generally don't miss games....why is that? They are always fresh because the competition they play every week is ridiculously inferior. They are fresh at the end of the year, which is why I'm convinced they do so well.

Again, I'm not saying they aren't a good team, but this whole bullshit about being undefeated all the time doesn't fly for me with the conference they play in. And the fact that everyone even said before the game "If they can beat VA Tech, they have a pretty clear shot at an undefeated season". If you can say that about a team after the first game, then something is wrong. I dunno if Boise thought it would help by them switching from one rinky dink conference to another, but I'm not impressed. Either they join a BCS conference (and play consistently against good teams like everyone else has to), or push for a plus one or playoff system. Can they win a national title....maybe....do they deserve the shot over other teams instead? I say hell no.

With that being said, I love that lane kiffin's defense did poorly. I was neutral on USC, but I hate Kiffin with a passion...he's such a douche.

Oklahoma was a lot of people's pick to make the title game, but after Saturday's game, I'm not so sure I agree with them. Write it down, Florida State upsets Oklahoma this weekend

LSU has one of the most talented teams in the country....too bad their coaching staff cannot manage any aspect of the game. Miles needs to be fired, and Gary Crowton needs to find an offensive identity and stick with it. One minute they are running power football and the next they are running spread option....too much confusion for Jefferson who has proved he isn't mentally strong enough to handle such a mixture of plays. Peterson is a beast...that is all.

Many other good games coming up this weekend. Michigan/Notre Dame and Miami/Ohio State. I'm gonna take Michigan by a few and Ohio State by 10+. I like Miami and what they are doing, but I just think Pryor will be too much.

I'd love to see TCU in the Pac-10 (maybe Boise, though they add little then being a good team) . Speaking though of scheduling, does any of the big teams schedule App. State after they beat Michigan that one year? (and bet $20, no-one will schedule Jacksonville State anymore either.)

Watched the Florida vs. Miami game Saturday. Man did Florida look like shit. Seriously I am not impressed with them at all.

TCU vs. Oregon State was a good game. TCU looked good, but the defense wasnt exactly what it was last year.

Boise and Tech tonight was a damn good game. Solidifies the preseason ranking that Boise got imo. This just means Alabama, and Ohio State cant fuck up this year or else Boise will sneak into that championship game if they do. I honestly dont see a Big 12 team other than maybe Texas making a strong case for the championship game.

Week 2 should be just as good. Got a couple awesome matches in this week as well. Penn State vs Alabama, and the game of the week imo Ohio State vs. Miami. Both should be good games and could decide the fates of the teams involved very early in the season.

Having TCU and Boise in the PAC-10 would be awesome.

Honestly, Ole Miss is a middle of the pack SEC team. I'm really not surprised they lost. Their defense is terrible.

Well for 1 - Game-wise, you are playing an opponent that plays a couple quality games a year if that, so they spend their entire summer with that date circled on the calender gearing up for it. Unlike a power conference which has to deal with multiple quality opponents.

TCU playing Oklahoma...they spent their entire year looking at that game since there isn't anything else to look at. Same thing with Boise State when they played the Fiesta Bowl against OK. There's no incentive to schedule an opponent that you know has tons of free time and mojo to gear up for you all year long, while you have to deal with 8 or 9 real conference games along with that pre-conference matchup.

2- See Utah next year and in 2012. How they play in the next couple years in the Pac will answer alot about how TCU, Boise State, etc would handle playing in a power conference for a whole season.

Although the big 12 should boot Baylor and pick up TCU at this point since Baylor is just a terrible football school and has no business in a BCS football conference.

    Re: College Football 2010

The games Im interested in for next week is NAU/ASU (even if it will probably be a blowout ), FSU/OK, Georgia/South Carolina, Michigan/ND, Miami/OSU, Oregon/Tenn, 'Cuse/UDub, and Stanford/UCLA. Some be better then others obviously (the likely duds being: NAU/ASU, UDub/'Cuse, and Stanford/UCLA). But if the ASU game is close, it will probably end up being the most exciting for me
