RE: Re: Democracy
Are you smoking crack? I implied an opinion on your behalf?
Okay then, why didn’t I get a call from you last night so that we could vote on where you ate dinner? Where was that bit of democracy? Oh, I’m sorry was that because it’s none or my business? Hmmm, how provocative.
You seem bent on defending democracy, so lets here it. Should I ask you every time I make a statement on the public forums? Do I need to get your permission?
And who was I talking to? Was I talking to you? Who exactly was the topic of that post? WHO! Let me tell you, it wasn’t you. Not by a long shot. Commander_Toolbag was told, by me, that...

However, since everyone here now thinks that what they voice in the forums must be run past you, is my post out of line? Is this post something that you think should be voted on? Exactly what is the point of your post?
Do we need to vote on whether or not you should be forced to answer me? Or shall I leave it up to your discretion and hope you don’t put words into my mouth?

If you could point out where in my post I had said that TTP should be a democracy, then please do so. Once you find that, then your argument will be justified.
The servers are well run and I know that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My problem is that whenever something is posted saying, 'This is our decision. You can't argue with that because we're a democracy,' that implies that I, being a member of the community, either agree with that decision or had to do with the process that led to that decision.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps the misunderstanding here comes from the question of who exactly is a member of TTP. I said that it was one of the registered users. If you are using a different definition, then I would like to know.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My request was that we don't call TTP a democracy. That was it.
I understand that you can't trust the running of the server to anybody that happens to wander in off of the internet.
I understand that if TTP were run as a democracy where everybody that registered could decide on who to ban, then the quality of TTP could go downhill in a hurry.
However, I was simply advocating not calling TTP a democracy. I wasn't advocating making TTP a democracy.
Thank you for your time.

What I was eluding to in my previous post, Cap, is that your view of democracy is a relative one - your viewpoint here isn't peticularly fact, as you're not permitted to see the workings of certain portions of the democracy, nor are you qualified to see or participate - yet.
It's just that different groups vote on different portions of the organization.
To assume that we're any less open, honest, or straight forward behind closed door's isn't giving us the benefit ofthe doubt that I hope we earn. The numerous votes we've had in public as big mentioned prove our point here.
About the only thing I can give you is to agree that if Ranger'd said - The "BF2admins are governed by democracy" instead of "TTP's a democracy" -
It might have been more accurate....but that is a really thin argument.
TTP is a democracy, to the extent a democracy can exist on the web.
Again, it's all about relativity......and semantics - and your definition of a true democracy.

You can't vote, because you aren't in a position for us to think that your vote is worth our time. You can't vote on server configs and bans because you aren't in a position to modify server configs, or issue/remove bans. You can't vote on many major issues, such as those.....simply because of your place in the society.
Is your vote worth our time? Should we believe that your opinion, voting for or against TTP issues, is based on real thought and rationality? Are you wishing to be involved, so that you can base your votes on informed opinions and fact? Because only such opinions can and/or should be accepted in the voting process.
Something that America.........should implement as well. Whoever gave votes to the women .......bet they're feeling it now.
