10-06-10, 03:52 PM #1Goals of the Week
I figure maybe more people would read this then a generic soccer thread, but thanks to a site known as footytube, I can find some of the best goals of the current/past week. Thus will put them here. Some of them may get left out if they aren't that great to begin with but yea.
Oh and off-topic a bit, but apparently the Owners of the Red Sox are looking to buy to buy Liverpool.
The first goal is one I saw via live TV, and it was amazing even if it was Chelsea, and against Arsenal
The wall should of done better, but the shot was wicked, (haven't watch many years of soccer just 2) can't think of a time I've seen a ball hit that hard, bend that much. And Alex is a centerback ffs.
2nd goal, was Pirlo's open play goal against Parma. One of the videos I came across said the shot was from 39m away and traveled at 83km/h.
3rd goal was by Bastos of Lyon vs. Aviv (some Israeli team I can't remember how to spell the whole thing) off a corner, it wasn't as exciting as the other two, but it was just crushed, got some great power behind it
4th according to tube, was Chicharito's goal vs. Valencia on the 29th. Thought it was decent, shot it through the gap with 2 defenders closing down on him. nothing uber "OMG" but it wasn't trash either.
Last one on the list was Van Der Vaart's goal vs Aston Villa (VdV been amazing so far, despite playing for a shit team), however having trouble finding it on Youtube :/.
So thats it for now, anyone have some they want to add? As long as they fall within Sep 27th-Oct 8. I'd love to talk more about Football (Soccer) but I don't think there are many here who would actually care (I know of like 3 fans).

woohoo! now this is a thread! Did you see John Terry's goal from last week? Not so much of an Awesome goal as it was a 1 in a million shot.
Chicharicho's goal was awesome, though i had to see the highlights. I watched the first half of the match in the union last Wednesday but had to go to class at halftime and missed the end.

sidenote: What's the deal with sunderland? they been kicking some tail recently; pulling draws with Arsenal, Man U, and Liverpool. Someone's gotta start chipping away at Chelsea's goal differential or their going to be nearly impossible to catch. Luckily Man U's got some easy teams up ahead in the near future and Chelsea's got a few tough ones in a row.

Sunderland is finally getting good :P, though they got a cheap goal for the Arsenal draw, Man Utd. been horrible on the road, and right now a draw vs. Liverpool is a a shit result xD (off-topic, wonder how long before Boomus posts :P).
At the moment its Chelsea and Citeh for 1st, though (granted I'm bias) i think Arsenal will recover and make a challenge as well.
EDIT: To add a bit, now I've been able to have closer looks (and other additions). First, with Sunderland, They have a decent defense record, 2 cleansheets (v. City, v. Man Utd), and allowed 1 goal a game. There shooting is piss terrible though, in 7 games, they've had 18 SOT total (or 2.6 a game) and about 2.4 saves a game.
For Arsenal, I think they can make a challenge to Chelsea, in the game they were playing well. They struggled to break down the Chelsea defense, but they had a few chances to get a goal and just missed them. Defense is the one glaring weakness, I think Verm back will help, as well as once Squil/Kosc "blend" more either each other and the rest of the line. Clichy scares me still though, better going forward then Sagna, but he's been making a ton of mistakes. The other problem is GK, but hopefully Fabi/Almunia manage til we (hopefully) get someone in January (I trust Fabi more at the moment as he hasn't completely monged it up)Last edited by Red_Lizard2; 10-06-10 at 11:43 PM.
