Re: Is it possible to get two copies of your drivers license?
When I moved from TX to CA, I did not have to surrender my TX license, only had a hole punched in it. Which is very nice, here's why:
When I moved from FL to TX, they made me surrender my FL license, and then I did not get a real TX photo license for several weeks. Coincidentally, I had to fly somewhere two days later. I was lucky enough that I already had a passport, so I used that (for a domestic flight). I also had to use my passport any time I bought alcohol for the next 3 weeks. HOW FUCKING STUPID. I told anybody else, if they move to TX, to get a dupe license before they come (even if it's illegal), so that when they surrender their first license, they still have SOME PHOTO ID for the next couple weeks. Also, they didn't even tell me they were keeping the license... just asked to see it, and then refused to return it. They basically stole my only photo ID from me, refused to issue me a new one for weeks, and then this very same state would expect me to produce photo ID several times in those same coming weeks. HOW FUCKING STUPID.
TL; DR
Texas: Can I see your ID? Yoink, I'm keeping it!
<next day>
Texas: Hey, where's your photo ID? I demand you show it to me!Last edited by Veovis; 10-14-10 at 12:26 PM.
