Got to brag
So a little background.
My 16 yr old son just got back into playing football after a 4 year lay off. He snapped his left femur and had to have two rods put in the last time he played and had not really wanted to play since then. Finally talked him into playing again and he is now the starting safety on his varsity team.
They are in the smallest district in the state of Florida and are now 5-1, but regardless competition is competition.
He was a little timid in sticking his helmet in initially over the first couple of games but a few hits here and there and he is becoming more aggressive. He took out a tight end the other two weeks ago in a game against their toughest division opponent. You could hear the hit all over the stadium. Unfortunately my daughter was causing me a major distraction at the time and I missed the actual hit, but I did hear it.
So anyway to the point of my post. He made his first interception this past Friday night. Man was this papa proud. I was high fiving anyone within 20 feet. There was one casualty, however, in that I broke my sunglasses .
The local news caught it on tape and he was on the evening news.
High School Football - Week 7 - NBC-2.com WBBH News for Fort Myers, Cape Coral & Naples, Florida go to 4:44 to see his interception.Last edited by w4jchosen; 10-18-10 at 11:03 AM.

Re: Got to brag
Yes he is really getting into it. Now if I could get him to stop trying to look like he's trying to create a Madden NFL character when he puts on his uniform, I will be a happy camper lol.
He's an excellent baseball player and the main reason to get him back into football was to increase his aggressiveness and put some size on him. He's 5'11 and weighs about 155 and ripped to shreds but lacks bulk.
Here's a link to his maxprep page http://www.maxpreps.com/athletes/6e8...an-edleman.htmLast edited by w4jchosen; 10-18-10 at 10:27 AM.

Re: Got to brag
Hockey might put some hair on his chest. : P
The bulk will come with some age. At 16 and 5'11",he may be about done growing vertically, but he will fill out in the next couple of years. Good call to get him into football,though....that will help a lot with being more aggressive. Get his confidence up,and work a crapload of muscle groups that other sports don't. Playing different sports will make a better athlete than just focusing on one. In fact, focusing on one sport,year-round can cause more damage than anything else.
The real question is How is Mom taking it? My Mom stopped going to my hockey games as soon as I hit Bantam(12-13 y/o or so) and we started hitting....she just couldn't watch....lol.
