San Francisco Giants plan to throw World Series* <-- MUST READ INSIDER INFO
Let me start this off with something to draw you in. Here's a video. Spoiler: Brett Favre gets hit in the nuts with a football.
Brett Farve Getting Hit in the Groin by Football is Today's BIG Thing - OCT 14, 2010
Ha ha, right? Eat it Favre. Now, down to business. The Giants are losing the World Series on purpose and you'd better put some chips on the Rangers if you know what's good for you. Here's how I know:
This is Cliff Lee. He won a Cy Young award a couple years ago and is on the Texas Rangers baseball team. When he was traded, I called that the Rangers would make the World Series and have a big advantage once they got there. http://www.teamplayergaming.com/off-...ts-wrapup.html
CLIFF LEE WATCH
Unstoppable pitcher Cliff Lee was traded from the Mariners to the Rangers today (http://www.mail.com/Article.aspx/spo...Trade?pageid=1). He has an ERA of 2.34 and his addition to the Rangers immediately catapults them to the top of the list of teams most likely to win at least 2 World Series games. He gets it done even when he doesn't have to, such as that time he threw at someone's face in spring training.
If you don't watch baseball then these two catches are all you have to watch to sum up what a badass he is: Baseball Video Highlights & Clips | WS 2009 Gm 1: Lee makes two plays look easy - Video | MLB.com: Multimedia
Keep in mind that that was game 1 of the World Series and the Yankees got completely handled by him that game. Phillies up 4-0 in the 8th does not quite demonstrate how completely the Yankees were beaten in Game 1. The Yankees were actually so badly mauled that game that the Phillies agreed to just let them win the next 4 games just so that all of New York City wouldn't throw itself into the river, because that shit would smell nasty and I think they had family up there or something. Cliff Lee was the one member of the team that did not agree and sure enough, he came back and spanked the Yanks in game 4.
Cliff Lee is pitching in game 1 of the World Series against the San Francisco Giants against a two-time Cy Young winner (2008 and 2009): Tim Lincecum.
Lincecum is a beast. He split the NLCS 1-1 vs. Roy "The second most awesome pitcher on the planet" Halladay who threw a perfect game and a playoff no-hitter this year. What a pitcher, eh? A team pitching this guy first in the World Series couldn't possibly planning to throw it, could they? Indubitably. The perfect crime. Let me elaborate.
Tim Lincecum is the Giants best chance to rack up 2 easy wins, unless he goes up against Cliff Lee. Cliff Lee has never lost a playoff start. If his team had failed to score a run by the 9th inning he'd go out and hit a homer. If he was feeling mischievous, he'd get a base hit and then steal second, third, and home, possibly all on the same pitch.
Giants management is leveraging the advantage in the series on Lincecum at least being able to get a 1-1 split vs. Lee. This is like saying that you are going to split a 1-1 wrestling match vs. Godzilla. I don't care if you are the baby of a threesome between Georges St. Pierre, Brock Lesnar, and Yokozuna... there is only one course of action here and it's to flee the city.
This kind of got me wondering what that would look like.
Maybe it's the pseudoephedrine, but the thought crossed my mind that this child would be the one person (if you trained him from the moment of birth to be nothing but a pitcher) that could outdo Cliff Lee's legacy.
It was at this point that I started to ask myself what kind of crazy crap I was doing up at 2:30 AM putting this shit together. Then I thought "Did George S. Patton hesitate when he turned the 3rd Army north to hold Bastogne?" Fortune favors the bold. Full speed ahead!
Maybe it's the drugs talking again, but I'm actually a little intimidated by this non-existent person. The time warp effect around his head isn't helping. I'm worried that if I morphed it with a picture of Cliff Lee that it would actually jump out of the screen and kick my ass. That last part is definitely the drugs, though. I'm sick as a dog right now; a dog with double rabies. I was actually sort of foaming at the mouth for the last few days, but I didn't bite anyone (yet). Don't you judge me.
Back on topic, the only reason I can see to pitch Lincecum vs. Lee is if they plan to bean Lee in the head the first time he comes up to bat. That's why I put a * in the title of this thread.
* unless they plan to bean Lee in the head the first time he comes up to bat.
After all, they will start in the National League stadium and pitchers bat in the NL. While this seems like a valid strategy (Lincecum gets ejected but Lee can no longer pitch and we're back to even) it assumes that hitting Lee in the head with a fastball would take him out of the game and we all know that he'd either dodge, hit a home run, or shrug it off and commit baseball murder. Only logical conclusion is that the Giants' management is trying to lose, an who are we to stop them? It will be a quick, merciful death, as far as 18 innings of baseball could ever be said to go quickly. Bet on blue.

Re: San Francisco Giants plan to throw World Series* <-- MUST READ INSIDER INFO
Game 1 update: Lincecum is completely terrified to be facing Lee. He had a quick hit and walk, let the bases get loaded with only 1 out, had a player in a rundown between 3rd and home and inexplicably did not throw to the 3rd basemen to let the player back to 3rd (and let the infielders handle it). That is what terror looks like, ladies and gentlemen.

I'm pretty sure he just did that so that he could see who kept the faith... he'll pitch games 4, 5, 6, 7 if necessary to pull this thing out!
Edit: Or potentially just fate making sure his price is driven down enough for the Phillies to land him next year. Who can tell?! DO NOT QUESTIONLast edited by Toad; 10-28-10 at 02:56 AM.
