Re: 2011 NFL DRAFT!!!!
Andrew Luck is retarded. I understand that going back to get your degree is admirable, but take the $50 million and go get your degree in the off season.
I mean really..... what are you actually going to do with that degree? You're going to be an NFL QB. Your degree will be useless to your career.
Take the $50 mil, go do your thing in the NFL, and go back to Stanford later.
Stanford kids are supposed to be smart? Seems quite the opposite to me.

Re: 2011 NFL DRAFT!!!!
You would be right if making as much money as possible as fast as possible was the only thing to consider, however it isn't. He is a Stanford student, and the son of an man who has vast experience with professional football. Luck had access to extremely valuable advice, and money is not going to be a problem for him in his lifetime. I'm sure the choice he decided upon is the best choice for what he wants to accomplish in life, which doesn't necessarily mean make as much money as possible.

Re: 2011 NFL DRAFT!!!!
Logically it doesn't make any sense. Stanford will always be there. $50 million guaranteed won't. You have any idea what you could do for people with that much money?
In the end it's like this:
1) Declare for the draft, and get your degree later. Outcome: $50 million guaranteed and a Stanford degree.
2) Stay in school and enter the draft next year. Outcome: Significantly less money and a Stanford degree.
He gets the degree either way, but by going back to school, he risks injury and plumitting his draft stock and losing tons of money that way as well.
It wasn't a wise decision.

Re: 2011 NFL DRAFT!!!!
To you it may not be a wise choice, but its what he wants. If he wants to stay in school to get his degree now, when its more than likely free, let him. And who knows maybe he wants to enjoy being a college student a little bit longer. He knows hes going to the NFL, he knows hes gonna make a lot of money....so why not enjoy what little freedom you have left by staying another year in college. Or maybe, just maybe he knows hes going number one overall and doesnt want to play for Carolina cuz they seem like a shit team. Seems pretty smart to stay in an extra year, maybe devalue yourself a little bit and go to a developed team and one that isn't going to be rebuilding.

Re: 2011 NFL DRAFT!!!!
He has every right to do what he wants, it's his career, but economically it doesn't make sense. Everything he wants can still be attained if he joins the draft.
Stanford is more likely than not going to the title game next year. Too many seniors leaving and if Harbaugh leaves, he is taking people with him.
To me, what he is risking isn't worth what he's trying to gain by foregoing the draft. Especially since he can get the degree in either choice. Risk is waaaaay to high for such a small payoff.
Given the pros and cons, it seems overwhelmingly obvious to go into the draft.Last edited by rock_lobster; 01-08-11 at 12:49 PM.
