Sam Adams Winter Lager
Not sure if there are any beer aficionados out there or just some that look forward to this beer being back in season, but does anyone notice a different taste this year?
I bought a case a while back and it just didnt taste like I remembered. I had a few others taste it as well and they said the same. I tried a draft a few weeks later and again, just didnt taste the same.
It used to be smoother and have more of a full-bodied taste with a hint of orange, but now it has more of a spicy side to it and you can really taste the ginger and cinnamon.
I might just have to stick with Smithwicks to keep me warm...

Re: Sam Adams Winter Lager
There's a brewery here in Minnesota called Schell that puts out their winter beer every year called Snowstorm. Best part is that it is never the same recipe from year to year. My favorite one was a few years ago when it was a Double Belgian Bock. So tasty that year and was wishing they would just use that recipe every year.

Im so glad Shiner has made a large footprint in the Midwest finally. I had it down in TX back in like 2005 and have been searching for it every since. Usually would only find it at a bar doing a special, but now its one of the common beers I find on the shelves.

Re: Sam Adams Winter Lager
I tried the octoberfest beer and it was too sweet for me. Havent tried the winter lager, maybe next time I am at chilis, they normally have the sam adams seasonals on tap.
Oh and I love shiner, been to the town but never stopped to take the tour of the brewery. Never tried any of their other brews, just stick with the original.
