I'm pretty sure he didn't do it for love....or at least the love of the phillies. His child has cancer no? And I believe Philly has one of the premier hospitals for such things. CHOP I believe it's called.

That, and after you figure incentives, and the amount of taxes he WON'T pay, the New York deal is essentially equal in value, so really no money was left on the table in the long run.

I found it amazing when they were showing the top deals for a starting pitcher, Zito got like $124 mil, and I think it was Mike Hamiliton got $121 mil.

That has the potential to be one hell of a rotation over the next 3 or 4 years. I'm happy the Rangers didn't give in to a 7 year deal for a 32 year old player.

AHAHAHA. I 'm from texas so, sure i wish he stayed here. i am just glad he burned the yankees yet again. I knew you would be quick to jump on this toad. Cliff lee is a legend. he is the yankees worst nightmare. the phils are the team to beat now. their pitching staff is fucking rediculous. if the phillies dont win it will probably be because cliff lee has to pitch against another team other than the yankees. he wont know what to do, see the last world series. his hatred of the yankees runs so dep that he cant even focus on lesser compettion. lee probably would want to be a rotating village bicycle for any team who was playing the yankees. you could pick him up for a cool 500grand and he would pitch game one of your yankees 3 game matchup for you. it would be great. cliff lee is where he wants to be, in the national league, with a shot to beat the yanks in the series.

I'd say the defending Champs (Giants) are the team to beat still. They kicked the shit out of all of the Phils pitchers last year....
