We just started MMA month!
Tonight was UFC - Fight for the Troops 3. It had a good set of fights and was free on Spike.
Next week, Jan 29th: Strikeforce - Nick Diaz vs. Evangelista Cyborg (170 lbs title fight). Nick Diaz is one of the best fighters to watch fight and one of the best to watch get interviewed.
Feb 5th: UFC - Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort vs. Anderson "The Spider" Silva (185 lbs title fight). This has the potential to be one of the best fights of 2011. Silva is a striking god and is currently considered by many to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Vitor Belfort was incredibly fast and brutally powerful before an injury took him out of commission for a long time. Now he's back, and ready to try to take Silva's belt. Silva has been fed a lot of grapplers lately (and Silva is a high level BJJ practitioner so they had a steep uphill battle), and now he's fighting someone who's specialty is aggressive striking. Watch this fight!!! Also on this card is Jon Jones (undefeated) vs. Ryan Bader (only 1 loss). Both are on the rise to the top and are riding big win streaks, but one has to fall on Feb 5th!
Feb 12th: Strikeforce - FEDOR "The last Emperor" EMELIANENKO vs. Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (heavyweight). Fedor reigned supreme over the heavyweight championship of the world for a DECADE, murdering everyone who came after him Russian-style. He finally lost to Fabricio Werdum after overconfidently shoving his head in Werdum's guard, allowing a submission by Werdum. While Werdum is possibly the most feared submission expert in the world (since he's a heavyweight and probably the best submission guy there), Fedor is FEDOR. If Fedor beats Bigfoot then he will face either Werdum or Alistair Overeem (the reigning K1, DREAM, and Strikeforce heavyweight champion who might be the best heavyweight in the world, although he has not fought high enough level competition in Strikeforce to prove that yet).
Feb 19th: Breathe... relax... watch some highlights.
Feb 26th: GET PUMPED AGAIN!!! John Fitch, on a huge win streak, faces BJ "The Prodigy" Penn in a lightweight showdown that will decide the future of both. John Fitch fights a wrestling-heavy style and was beaten by the current 170 lb champ (GSP) awhile ago but is hungry for another title shot. He wins consistently and has something like 5 in a row. BJ Penn destroyed Matt Hughes in around 20 seconds in his last fight, and looked to be completely pumped. He's a good wrestler and jiu jitsu artist and used to be considered the best lightweight in the world, before Frankie "Way cooler than most people thought he was which he proved in his last fight" Edgar beat him twice. Frankie Edgar has unlimited energy, very good wrestling and is faster than anyone except Jose Aldo, though (which is the perfect build to beat BJ Penn). This fight is going to be a big one.
Who else is pumped?!?!?!?!?!Join the TPG Folding @ home team: http://www.teamplayergaming.com/pc-h...ding-team.html

Did you see the Nick Diaz/Evangelista Cyborg fight? What a great fight! I thought Nick's legs were going to fall apart after those leg kicks. I can't wait to see Roger Gracie fight some higher level competition. His striking seems to be coming along pretty well and his jiu jitsu is great to watch. I'm thinking about asking the girl I'm dating to go to watch UFC 126 with me this weekend at a local bar. That'd be the moment of truth, haha.

Yeah I saw the Diaz fight. If only cyborg could have worked the kicks more, I bet it could have ended up like the "Forrest-Rampage" fight. It was also pretty cool to see a Gracie doing good so far, the last couple of them I've seen haven't worked out in their favor (Rolles and Renzo). 126 is going to be tight, some of my friends have brought their girlfriends to hooters for a fight, they seem to get super bored lol.
