dx7 issues (stuff disappearing)

found this in the steam forum. I don't have this issue, since I'm high end, but I remember a lot of people posting about this in the big september update......can't find it now.

recommends chaning some settings in your dxsupport.cfg file under the dx7 (name 70) section.

give it a shot.....but I think these issues were addressed and are done. And, competition leagues don't allow sub dx8 levels anymore, anyway.

I got so frustrated with the idiots replying to the post......doing it wrong....not even trying to figure it out.....check out my last post in that thread (probably the last one made).

Editing the DX level is just shit. I did it...nothing. Its somthing with in the game. I run dxlevel 90...yes dxlevel 90, and still get barrles,boxes ect...dissapearing. It was fine until a un-spoken release. You know that time you started up Source and wtf? its updating...yes thats it. That update was thought to help the dxlevel 7 people, but it turns out it messed up the other levels if you did not have them set like that before that update. This is what happend to me. STEAM is more focusing on the release of Day of Defeat Source, and its updates, then Counter Strike Source at this point. Now I am hoping after tomorrow's update, they will work on this. I don't think they intended to do this. They were getting the CSS prepared to run on a different "Server" because DoDs would be running so many of them with over 3 million people on the game within 10 mins of its launch. (CSS was about 1 million.) This way people could play in CSS wile DoDs took up i think it was about 20/30 "STEAM Servers" But somthing in the update caused CSS to change the dx levels. Thus we have this big commostion.

I hope some of this helps some people out

I would also like to say. After the unannounced update....only affected few people not every one

again.....with all your steam issues.....you need to just delete the whole thing, and then install a fresh, downloaded copy. Don't touch anything but your button configs.....and get started.

Yea but i hate CSS takes like over and hour to install thats why lol....o fuck I'll do it.

O i FINNALY got responce from Steam...

They said there is nothing they can do because there is no way to tell if it was files that were sent or anything

I don't see why anyone has so many problems with steam, CS:S, etc. I run the game with a Piece of shit 6200 and all other shitty computer parts, and nothing, just a bad problem with FPS... You crazy people.

yeah, that's what valve does. when someone has a problem, they just say "fuck off and deal with it yourself". or no response at all.

They might just be busy with bigger problems? Doesn't anyone ever think of it from their point of view? If I had people bugging for new maps and all sorts of things, I wouldn't want to go into a full on investigation on a problem that could maybe even be easily fixed... I don't know, Im speaking dumb perhaps.

or, they could fix all of their existing problems before potentially causing new ones. and i think they have people dedicated to tech support. map design doesn't exactly fall into that category, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
