First off, I left nothing on in the car overnight, and the battery is only a year old.
It won't start today however. The clicker on my key-chain doesn't even work to unlock my car.
This happened back in December, too. Then, I tried turning my engine, which didn't work, but the car wouldn't let me take my keys out. It ended up starting later that day. When I took it into the dealership, they couldn't find anything wrong with it.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Could be an issue with the keys still having the power turned on. It does not have to show interior lights for it to happen. As long as their is a drain on the battery. Is your radio or anything showing on when you turn off the car?

Re: Car won't start
My wife complained of the same thing in her car so the first thing I did was take my voltmeter and test the battery which was fine, the second thing I checked were the battery cables and found out that the negative was on very loosely, causing the circuit not to complete. I tightened the nut down and now it works fine.

White i need more info in order to help. What year make and model vehicle? Are you 100% sure you did not leave anything on? Describe what happened when the keys would not come out of the ignition and how if ever did them finally come out? Next the primary culprite from shit like this is a bad connection at the battery. Even though they may be tight does not mean they are making contact. You may want to take them off and clean them.

Like Blake said, take a voltmeter and make sure your battery has power, it could be your alternator isn't recharging your battery, make sure there are no electronics on at all after you turn off your engine.

2004 saturn ion
I put the keys in the igntitiin and try to turn the engine. Nothing happens. I try to take the keys out of the ignition, but I'm unable to do so.
A friend of miine pointed out that this could be the cold weather affecting my battery.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Re: Car won't start
There are very few reasons you would not be able to get the keys to come out. First one being the tumblers are falling out. The second being the key is not turning to the full off position. It could do that for a few reasons. One is the same tumblers coming out. The other is the gear is not registering as being in park. If the car is all the way in park the the issue is the where the cable is meeting the ignition in the steering column. If you wish to take a look i can tell you how.
Now lets address the power issue. Have you checked to see if the battery is actually charged?
Now is anything in the vehicle working? Such as radio, wippers, dash lights, anything at all. If not and the batteriy is good you have most likely blown the main fuse in the engine compartment. It will be bigger then most fuses and somewhere around 40 to 100 in size instead of the normal 5 to 20. I have seen saturns do this many times.
Assuming that isnt the issue and you actually have items turning on we can move to a few simple tests. Turn your lights on and have someone try to start the vehicle. If your lights dim during this your ok but if they actually turn off for a split second your battery is fucked. It means you have a dead cell.
Now was there a check engine or service engine light on prior to this issue?
