Phoenix is number 3 bitches
hooray for being crap!
where did your city (or the closest city to you) end up?
Seattle, Atlanta are most miserable sports cities - Yahoo! Sports
the method:
We scored each city on the number of times one of its teams has lost in the postseason, adjusting the misery points to give the most weight to losing in the final round (World Series, Super Bowl, NBA Final, Stanley Cup Final) and doling out progressively fewer points for losing earlier playoff rounds. We also factored in the number of years since each city’s last title (31 for Seattle), and the ratio of each city’s cumulative seasons to championships won (Atlanta, for instance, has compiled 153 MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL seasons while winning one championship, the 1995 Braves). And to keep the playing field even, we limited the contenders to cities with at least 75 cumulative seasons in the four major sports leagues.
We also tacked on a bonus point whenever a city loses a team to greener pastures.
1. Seattle
2. Atlanta
3. Phoenix
4. Buffalo
5. San Diego

Before I read the method, couldn't see how Phoenix made it (as they said they didn't look for teams with huge droughts etc.), but the playoff thing had to be one of the things to go in the cities favor, as Arizona sports teams are great at choking in the playoffs when they make it.

Re: most miserable sports cities
The twins world series championship was out last one, and that was in '91. Since then we've had the North Stars leave, a horrible mid 90's record the Twins, a below average basketball team, AND a football team that can never get to the big game in their last 3 attempts and not to mention have never won it.
