would it be easy to do an oil change myself (without a car lift, on a car that sits, maybe, MAYBE 6 inches off the ground)?
Yes on both. All you need is a jack. Oil changes are as easy as it gets working on cars.

Read the steps, get a feeling for it, come ask Death a lot of questions, then read the steps again and give it a shot.

I did a complete head gasket replacement on my car just following the Haynes manual. Besides, you will learn more about every spec your car has in that manual.
Those manuals are worth thier weight in gold if you plan on working on vehicles. I use to have a shit load of them but noticed i no longer needed to look for anything. So i gave them to people i knew that wanted to work on their vehicles but lacked the knowledge.

My problem now is everything i get isnt in those manuals. Like that damn 1 ton rear end. I spent a day and a half trying to get the pinion gear out because a piece of shrapnel shot over the sump and get caught between the housing and the pinion retainer. I was about to lose my fucking mind trying to get a piece of metal covered in gear lube dislodged from a place i cant see and could barely get a finger to.

I drive an '06.5 Scion Xb. It's low like yours, and I have no problem getting under it, W/o blocks, or jacks. I TRY to change mine Every month, but during the winter its more like once.

Last time i looked Chilton Didn't make a 06-07 xb manual. and the 06-07 Bb manual is in japanese.

I have a haynes manual, cant find shit on IAC valves though. I see something that resembles the IAC but its mounted vertically.

Good news is I found it, bad news is, it's stuck in there pretty tight. I bent my hex wrench slightly and it barely budged.

I think you mean.... In the unlikely event of a water landing your personal flotation device can be found at the rear of the vehicle.

I would think it still has a jack but like i said i've never touched one. It definitely has a jack point under the car at least. If it doesn't have a jack (which is pretty fing weak of them) you might have to spend 20 bucks at target and get a small hydralic one.
