Re: Bought my dream car . . . yet . . . Fuck. My. Life. . . .
Adjuster call, took my statement. While taking my statement & telling him the dates of when I bought the car, date of the "incident" & date/time telling the insurance company about when I bought the vehicle, he acted like it might not be covered.
Turns out, 30 days notificaiton is for liability only. It's 7 days if you're replacing a vehicle, 4 days if you're adding a vehicle (my case). I still was with in the window, but I was concerned for a few hours until I emailed him the contract & he responded quickly after the "management review".

Better check the dealer's insurance then. And barring that... Do you JUST have your car with your insurance company? If you are like me and have car, bike, house with them a good threat of taking all of your business elsewhere carries a bit of weight.

My friend in Tennessee had a tornado destroy his apartment. He just moved up there for a job and lost all of his personal belongings he brought with him in the storm. To top it off, he didn't have renters insurance. The only good thing is that this has motivated him to buy a house since the job has become permanent.
Thank God he was at work when this happened, otherwise he would no longer be with us.

Man that sucks. At least he was ok. I used to not have renters insurance then I thought about what would happen. I'm responsible for 2 other people (wife/daughter) so by not having it I'm putting them at risk. It's amazing how fast household items add up even if you don't have a lot of jewelry or fancy furniture.

Re: Bought my dream car . . . yet . . . Fuck. My. Life. . . .
Adjuster just looked at the car. She said this is the worst she's seen this year, but it's not even top 10 (think baseball sized hail going to town).
$6100 + $500 deductible. Not totaled.
To me it doesn't make sense since we're talking Cadillac parts & a neighbor with a Dodge Magnum got some where between $7500 - $8500 on his claim.
I want to go to a Cadillac dealership to see about an estimate from there.
Anyone in DFW have an EXTREMELY SOLID body shop recommendation? I am nitpicky & can see messed up paint, so I want it done right ONCE.

My mom's husband works for a Chevy dealership in Plano. If you want I can see who they use/recommend.
Also, just take it to the shop of your choice. If they say it is more to repair it then just have them give you an estimate and send it to your insurance company for a supplement.

Dropped the car off at Sewell yesterday & got a call from Sewell today. They've filed a supplemental with my insurance agency. The agency is going to come back to inspect or something.
Thus far, Sewell has said:
new hood
new roof
new passenger door skins
new trunk decklid
new right front fender
new unibody side panel (rear quarter to a pillar)
Minor PDR on the driver side with a few dents. There are a few dents on the driver side roof rail/rear quarter/front fender. I kinda hope they replace the left front fender so they have to repaint the driver side. There's a couple of very minor scuffs/scratches on that side I'd like to see disappear.

Sewell called to say insurance will allow for the unibody panel AND not total it. Work should begin soon. They've had it for two weeks, but got nothing done because of going back & forth with insurance. It'll be another three weeks before it's done!
Sewell will work with me on a custom hood if I pay the difference.
Finally, but it sucks being without the V for so long because I had a lot of fun driving it for the time I had it!
Final total is $12.9k.
