Mythbusters told me that when a round of ammunition explodes that the projectile doesnt have sufficient velocity to hurt you unless it is sitting in a loaded gun. The bullet will just flop off the end and maybe go a couple feet.

Yup... It needs to be enclosed (inside a chamber with a barrel).

It can all explode and still cause some serious harm and even death.

yeah going in to homes and hearing ammo pop is nerve racking because you know there is a gun somewhere. hopefully not pointed your direction! The casings go flying when ammos pops sounds like popcorn to me.

Yeah, it true. Myth busters, even proved it. The ammo has to be in the barrel of the gun in order for it do deadly harm.
