Yeah this one's been out for a while but I finally got around to seeing it.

An animated movie that doesn't cater to just kids. It's weird, it's quirky, it has caballero owl mariachi bands, fear and loathing in las vegas references and a "spirit of the west" that's uncannily Clint Eastwood looking and sounding. It's a pretty cliche and formulaic western, but it's also pretty good. I really didn't expect much from this one, but I kinda liked it in the end.

Johnny Depp plays the title character of Rango who, through accident, becomes the sheriff of a dying town full of animals. The town is run by a turtle that controls what little water the town has, and is buying up all the land for a secret project. Rango must save the town and return the water to the area and deal with various situations in the process.

It's not Toy Story or Finding Nemo or Up... It doesn't pander to kids. It tells a story and does it in a straightforward, albeit strange way.
