I'll tell you what white. I fully intend on going to quakecon this year. If your car is there and still jacked up i'll look at it and see what its going to take to fix the problem. If its not an all day event i'll go ahead and fix it.

Oh, trust me, I will still be acting very cold, and I will say calmly, in no uncertain terms, that I can very easily report them to the better business bureau and write some VERY unfavorable reports on internet review sites. Calm like a tiger stalking prey.

BBB doesn't scare any business. Now if you want to scare them find out the laws in your state regarding written estimates and see which line or lines they fucked up on yours. Then tell them you'll turn them into the state. In florida not writting up someone that had work done is a 16 thousand dollar fine. 1000 dollars for every line not filled in and it wont be just your they check. Jiffy lube closed a store down here because the state said they were going to inspect it.

Damn, sorry it's still not fixed. Seeing as how they still didn't fix it I'd take it back but
if they're going to charge you more for it I'd call what you spent with them a loss and find a good
shop like Death was talking about. Someplace that's rather crappy looking but the guy knows what
he's doing (the mechanic I go to only has half a sign left). Oh, another place to look for would be some place that 'specializes' in racing/sport cars. Most likely if it's something he hasn't come across before he'll be wanting to figure it out.
A mechanical/electrical puzzle shall we say.
In my opinion yelling won't get you too far, you can sound like you mean business and are more sure of what you are going to do (i.e. be back with a lawyer) when your, as you say "calm like a tiger stalking prey". If anything, get some of your money back (they did fix the 'no start').
    Good Luck!

    Re: Car won't start

As an example i can tell you what i had to do today.

My sister call me up and says she dropped her car off at a shop near my house. Why she didn't just bring it here i dont know but whatever. The clutch is brand new the transmission has been changed but the clutch wont disengage enough to change gears. She tells this to the guy and says if its going to be more then 300 call me.

Well he called and said the car is done and the total is 480 and she has to pay in cash. Now she calls me to see whats up. I told her come pick me up to go with her and her son to the shop and bring 300 bucks because its all you need. The guy running the shop goes thru his little deal about what he had to do, hands her the bill, and says in front of me cash only. She exchanges words with him, nothing drastic or rude, and the guy doesn't budge.

Now i stepped in and tell him to his face hes full of shit about what he did and continue to tell him
" This is where your problem is. She told you to call her if the total was going to be more then 300 and you took it apon yourself to excede that number." He responds with and i cant believe he even said this " Well were a busy shop and dont have time to make those phone calls." Now i'll finish the conversation i had.

This is how this is going to work. Your going to take 300 for the job and if she wishs to pay with a credit card thats her choice or you can opt to refuse that option. At that point in time this conversation will be done and you can give your side of the story to a cop because i want to have a copy of a report to send to the state on just how many laws you violated. In case you dont know let me help you out. You are required in the state of florida to have a signed written estimate for any work being completed over $100. You how ever do not have that. Now that written estimate has 16 lines on it of which is a $1000 fine for each line not filed out unless the person checked the box that states "Does not request a written estimate." Now when they show up they wont be looking for just her paperwork they're going to look thru all of them. In case your unaware of your other crimes when you told her cash only after the work was done and gave her a hand written reciept on a piece of plain paper with just a total and no break down of any kind on that number thats called tax evasion and fraud. Now take your pick because im not going to waste any more of my time with you.

He gladly took the 300 of which she paid in cash and we left. I cant stand a shady mechanic they give us all a bad name. I still might call the state on him though. I haven't decided yet.

I would disagree with trinity though dont just write that money off. They were paid to fix the problem and are required to fix that problem. If they did not do so or can not for whatever reason demand a refund.

I am definitely intend on trying to make it then. Even if you can't fix, you can probably tell me what's wrong so I can go to a mechanic with that info.

    Re: Car won't start

So, they called up GM. GM didn't know for sure what was wrong. They also called up an engineering firm who didn't know what was wrong either. The dealership also wasn't able to duplicate the problem. They can think of a few possible fixes that might solve the problems but those are going to cost a few thousand dollars so my dad doesn't want to do those right now. Looks like I get to keep sitting on my thumb.

Dealership wont tell you what the problem is without looking at the vehicle and even then they dont really tell you the specific problem. An engineering firm wouldn't know to begin with. They get paid to design not trouble shoot. They would be the ones to go to when you need to ask why they didnt give 1/2 inch more space so you can fit a fucking tool on the bolt. Actually i cant think of a single mechanics shop that will give you an asnwer to a problem over the phone. Its just bad business.

    Re: Car won't start

Funny story, so they tell me I can come pick up my car today. The lady in charge of it spends 10 minutes explaining everything they tried and how they couldn't duplicate the problem. So, as soon as I try to start my car to get out of the dealership, the car dies. I laughed for about 2 minutes and then went and got the lady.

The nice thing was that the mechanic was able to get a computer hooked up and find out what was wrong. It's the body control module. They're overnighting the part from West Virginia so my car should be fixed by Friday. It's only going to cost $700 to replace, which isn't bad, I think.
