    NFL Top 100 Players 2011

NFL The Top 100 NFL Players of 2011

    Agree, Disagree?

I may be a homer, but I'd like to think Brees should be higher than 9. I mean Ray Lewis at #3 for last year? Ed Reed at #4? Come on.

Even though I hate Green Bay with a passion Aaron Rodgers should be a top5 player.

Wasnt Ed Reed injured for a good chunk of the year last year? And Ray Lewis had a sub standard year statistically wise.

McFadden should be higher than 96, and McNabb shouldnt even be on this list after last year.

And how is Peyton Hillis not on this list? He was the Brown's offense last year.

This list if such bs all the way around, especially some in the top10.
What pissed me off the most is probably when they were showing highlights of these top10 players. Why was most of the highlights from previous seasons? Did they actually show any highlights of Ray Lewis 2010 season? Why were they talking about past super bowl wins and what they did this year or that year, but not the 2010 season. Makes no sense at all. If it was greatest players of 2010 Aaron Rodgers would have been at least top5.... I would fucking think.

Greatest players of 2010? no not this list at all

Maybe greatest players of past 4 years.

This was voted on by the players, who apparently can't tell the difference between "career" and "2010-2011"

Re: NFL Top 100 Players 2011

If I remember the premise of the top 100 players correctly, the question posed to the players was usually who was the best at their position last year, or who would you least like to line up against, something along those lines. When the questions are posed the second way there, it's easy to believe Brady, Manning, AD, Lewis and Reed were the top 5, because any given week those are some of the people you LEAST want to see on the opposing team. When you're playing against Brady or Manning, you know there's a pretty good possibility they can torch your defense, no matter who's on your defense. When AD is lining up against you, you know there's a really good chance he's going to run down some of your teammates, throw them off, and rumble for some extra yards the vast majority of backs won't get. Lewis is one of the most feared tacklers in the NFL, and even if he had a down year last year he's someone that no running back in his right mind wants to see coming for him, because he knows he's about to sit down. As for Reed, yeah he missed a good portion of the season last year, yet he still led the league in interceptions. Know what that tells me? That any QB would have to be brain dead to WANT to play against Reed, because if he can average a pick or so a game, you know that one brief error on your part can turn into a giant momentum swing.

Yeah Rodgers probably should've been higher, but when you're talking about the top 10 or so players in the NFL at any given point you're talking about the absolute best at ANY position. To make it anywhere NEAR the top 10 is a huge achievement. I mean look at the names higher then him, there are at least four future hall-of-famers on that list above Rodgers. In Rodgers case, I would rather my defense line up against him rather than Brady, Manning, or Brees, because Rodgers is still a somewhat raw product. He has immense physical talent, but just like Favre before him he can be caught gambling and makes mistakes. If he continues to play like he did last year I have no doubt he will eventually overtake at least 1 QB on that list, but he just hasn't done it consistently enough to warrant the same type of apprehension that lining up from the top 3 QBs does.

You can also tell that people didn't get onto that list just based off of their careers, considering Brett Favre did not make an appearance, and Champ Bailey, one of the best cornerbacks in NFL history, who already has the most pro bowls of any cornerback, came in at a mere 48.

Lewis had the 6th most tackles out of everyone in the NFL, Ed Reed was injured for a good chunk of the year and still led the NFL with 8 interceptions. McFadden is electrifying, but inconsistent, and Peyton Hillis is a good player but has his flaws. He is not a juke guy, he's a grinder, and while he's a good grinder there are many better than him, which is why he wouldn't make the list.

I can't explain how McNabb made the list. Usually when your play is so terrible that you get benched in favor of Rex Grossman, it's time to just retire.

Re: NFL Top 100 Players 2011

Was watching an interview of Greg Jennings on EPSN, he was asked if he got to pick anyone on this top 100 players of 2011 list. He said no, and as he recalls no one on the Packers team was asked to either.

So I wonder, who actually got to pick for this list. As voted on by the players SUPPOSEDLY.

The list still seems like crap to me.

That has actually been an issue recently. Several other big name players also said they don't recall them or anyone they knew voting on this. I'll see if I can find the article.
