EMS/FIRE/ER Nursing

Who here has any experience with emergency medicine? I've been working on my EMT in addition to my school coursework and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight or stories (keep it HIPAA compliant).

I am an EMT and worked the er before. but now I work on a Bone Marrow transplant ward.

Not on an ambulance, although that is one of the courses I have to take.

I did go on a few with the fire department though.

Insight eh... When you make a call and see a dead body and dont get sad, get the fuck out before you start Bringing Out the Dead. Seriously. It was a great movie, but there is lots of truth in it. I see wrecks on so many street corners and remember the lies that everythings gonna be alright, I see the faces, the injuries, the blood. It takes a lot out of you. Learn to talk about it and get it off your chest.

When shit hits the fan you lose more than you save. It is fun and when things go positively it feels like a million bucks and thats why you keep doing it.
